Brighton Over Spencerport by One

Both teams took turns in controlling this exciting Monroe County crossover game at Brighton. Senior long stick Will Bender scored the game winner with two seconds left to give Brighton the win.

Brighton scored the first three goals and held their lead even while Spencerport worked their way back. The teams ended the quarter tied at 4-4 after Spencerport freshman attackman Jon Agness scored the last goal of the quarter with four seconds on the clock.

Spencerport took control of the second quarter, scoring four in a row and then letting the Barons back in with three unanswered goals ending the half with the Rangers up 8-7. At the start of the third it was Brighton`s turn to take back control as they tied the game and then took the lead and ended the quarter up 12-11.

Near the top of the last quarter, Spencerport tied the game at 12-12 when Trevor Dustin scored on an assist from Agness. Alex Osman scored an unassisted goal for the Rangers and Andrew Forte scored (assisted by Collin McElligott) to give Spencerport a two goal lead.

As the time started to wind down, penalties played an important part of the game. There were nineteen penalties called the in the game and eleven were in the last quarter.

Brighton scored next in man up (Mac Coke from Brady McDermott), but Forte came back to maintain the two goal lead for the Rangers. With 0:52 left in the game, Coke scored an unassisted man down goal and with 0:17 left, he scored again to tie the game at 15-15. Bender the scored the game winner with two second left.

Agness had 2g-5a, Forte added 3g and McElligott had 2g-3a to lead Spencerport. Coke has 8g-3a and McDermott had 2g-4a to lead the offense for Brighton who now have a record of 6-3.
