Victor Repeats at Section Five Champ
SPORTSFIVE REPORT:
Victor scored seven unanswered goals on their way to a 20-8 win over Webster Thomas. The game was close for the first quarter before a weather delay between the first and second quarters. Coming out of the delay, Victor scored five unanswered goals to increase their lead to 9-2. The Blue Devils had 10 players make their offensive scorebook with Drew Collins leading with 4g-2a. Mike DeMarco (4g-1a), Jamie Trimboli (3g-1a) and Ryan Maloney (2g-2a) added to the scorebook for Victor.
Face off midfielder TD Ierlan had an impressive day at the draw and finished at 93% (25/27). He was named Class B All Tournament MVP. In addition to the face-off wins, he also had a team leading 22 ground balls. DeMarco added three, Trimboli and Michael Matheson added two each. In the cage, Chayse Ierlan played the majority of the game and recorded five saves.
Thomas had three players finish with two goals each: Matt Fiore, Cam Isaac and Pierce Currie. Between the pipes, Davis Bird recorded eight saves for the Titans. Bird also led in ground balls with five and had two interceptions.
The All-Tournament Team for Class B included the following for Victor: TD Ierlan (MVP), Drew Collins, Mike DeMarco, Brandon Kunick, Chayse Ierlan and Max Lambert. Thomas had three players make the list: Cam Isaac, Kevin Hill and Trevor Knoepflier. From the Semi-Finals, John Lombardi (Irondequoit) and Ben Smith-Wilcox (Canandaigua).
