Auriuso's OT Winner Lifts Hilton Past CA
HILTON-12 at CANANDAIGUA-11 in overtime - Junior attackman Gianluca Auriuso scored the overtime winner with three minutes and 37 seconds left in the extra period, lifting Hilton to a 12-11 non-league victory over Canandaigua on Thursday night. The win extended Hilton's winning streak to seven games, pushing their record to 9-1.
For Hilton, sophomore offensive midfielder Drew Brien led the way with two goals and four assists, while senior midfielder Anthony Mitrano added two goals and two assists. Auriuso finished with two goals and an assist, and sophomore attackman Cahlan Smith chipped in three goals. Sophomore goalie Brendan Maxwell made eight saves and reached the 200th save milestone of his career. Sophomore Lucas Grizzanti controlled the faceoff circle, winning 17 of 23 draws (74%).
For Canandaigua (3-5), freshman attackman Landon Mortier led with three goals, while senior attackman Patrick Olvany had two goals and two assists, junior defenseman Marshall Bolster added two goals and an assist, and junior attackman Ryan McKeegan contributed two goals. Canandaigua goalie Quentin Shedrick stopped 10 shots but did not meet the 50% threshold to be listed.
