VanZandt's Four Goals Lead Lakers
LIVONIA-AVON-GENESEO-16 at WATERLOO-6 - Livonia-Avon-Geneseo picked up a 15-6 non-league win at Waterloo on Monday evening, scoring seven goals in the first quarter to build an early lead. Eight different players scored for the Lakers, who extend their winning streak to five games and improve to 5-1.
For Livonia-Avon-Geneseo (5-1), junior Rider VanZandt led with four goals and two assists, while sophomore Will Schweitzer added three goals and four assists and senior Nikolai Hanna contributed two goals and three assists. Owen Schweitzer chipped in two goals, and first varsity goals went to sophomore Connor Duryea, senior Daniel Hajtmar, and junior Colin Molinari. VanZandt went 10-for-14 at the faceoff dot (71%) and freshman Brian Gibbs added five wins in seven attempts (71%). Senior Ayden Szymanski stopped 11 shots for a 65% save percentage in goal.
For Waterloo (0-5), sophomore Jaidyn Ellison led with three goals and two assists, while sophomore Drake Alger added two goals and one assist and senior Kyle Shangraw chipped in one goal. Senior Dylan Acquilano stopped seven shots in 43 minutes in goal.
