Brighton Opens Season With 17-4
RUSH-HENRIETTA-4 at BRIGHTON-17 - Brighton opened its home season Thursday evening with a 17-4 non-league win over Rush-Henrietta, with eight different players finding the net for the Bruins. The win gives Brighton the series edge for the first time, moving to eight wins against seven for Rush-Henrietta dating back to 2003. No statistical report from Rush-Henrietta was available at post-time.
Sophomore Austin Flaum led Brighton (1-0) with four goals and three assists. Junior Quinn Huefner scored three goals, including his first varsity goal. Freshman Jimmy Kazel added two goals and two assists, sophomore Kiki Condon contributed two goals and one assist, and Ben Marangola added two goals and one assist. Seventh grader Red Wolk scored two goals and one assist — recording his first varsity goal and first varsity assist in the same game. Junior Tim Tourangeau rounded out the key contributors with one goal and three assists, and Teddy Carl added one goal. Senior Gavin Hayslip won 15 of 17 face-offs for an 88% rate. In net, sophomore Max Luongo stopped two of three shots for a 67% save rate over eight minutes, and Logan Serve posted a 50% save rate over 40 minutes.
Rush-Henrietta (1-1) scored four goals on the evening, but no individual statistics were available at post-time.
Brighton visits Greece Storm on Saturday morning, while Rush-Henrietta travels to Lancaster on Saturday afternoon.
