Hilton Pulls Away Late for Victory
In a non-league matchup at Schroeder High School, Hilton secured a 9-4 win, extending their winning streak to five games. Hilton’s offense was led by senior Tyler Reger, who tallied three goals, and Gianluca Auriuso, who added two. Freshman Cahlan Smith contributed with a goal and two assists in his first Varsity game. Schroeder kept pace through the efforts of Garrett Conger, who scored twice, and Parker Brown and Jonny May, each with a goal. Sophomore goalie Van Bolton was solid in net for Schroeder, making ten saves with a 53% save rate over forty-eight minutes, while Hilton’s Brendan Maxwell recorded a 50% save rate with four saves.
The game saw Hilton take control in the second quarter, scoring four goals, including two in under two minutes. Sophomore Jason Cunningham also earned his first Varsity goal for Hilton. Schroeder rallied with three goals in the third quarter but couldn’t close the gap as Hilton's defense, led by senior Drew O`Buck’s dominant face-off performance (13 wins), maintained control.
With this win, Hilton narrowed the series record to eight wins against Schroeder's nine. Hilton will face Horseheads on Saturday, April 12, while Schroeder prepares to host Penfield on Thursday, April 17. [ Story and BOX SCORE]
