Players of the Week - Week Three

Player of the Week

Section V Boys Lacrosse Coordinator Mike Simon in conjunction with the Connors and Ferris law firm are, once again, sponsoring recognition of noteworthy performances throughout the season.

For "Week 3" we have two players who had standout performances last week.

Offensive Player of the Week

Mitch MonterMitch Monte - Fairport

Mitchell Monte started his varsity career with a dramatic five goals in Fairport`s 8-7 season opener with Pittsford. Mitch scored the tying goal with thirty-two seconds in the game and then scored again with eight seconds. Quite a beginning for the freshman middie.

Assistant Coach Tim Soudan says: "Mitch stepped up in big moments against Pittsford. His effort on ground balls helped put us in the position to win.  Mitch has a great sense of space on the lacrosse field and found himself, not only in open spots but was able to dodge to open spots to take high percentage shots and score both the tying and winning goals."

Defensive Player of the Week

Mike ValentMike Valent - Rush-Henrietta

Rush-Henrietta junior midfielder/face off specialist Mike Valent has started his second year on the varsity in a dramatic way. In his first five games of the season, he has won 91 faceoffs and only 20 losses (82%). His "worst" game was a 70% day against Pittsford. He leads the Royal Comets in ground ball production with 81 and he has scored goals in every game this year.

Head Coach Tom MacMillan says, " Mikey has had a great start to the season and his hard work training in the off season is paying off. Mikey has decided to concentrate on lacrosse and wants to play in college and his commitment is paying dividends for R-H lacrosse. Mikey is the hardest worker on the field and only knows how to go 100% all the time. He is also a great student in the classroom."
