Canandaigua came back and scored the final two goals in their 5-4 win over Geneva. Penn Yan won a 5-2 victory over Lakeland/Panas. Penfield beat Brighton 15-6. It was Aquinas beating C-C after scoring six goals in the last quarter and Thomas took Hilton 6-3 on the first day of vacation week games.

  --     Thomas was focused and consistent in their shooting during their 6-3 win over Hilton. Thomas led 6-1, with 9:19 remaining in the final quarter, before the Cadets scored the final two goals of the contest. Overall, Thomas finished with 32 shots and 17 on cage. Hilton finished with 24 shots and only 7 on cage. In the third quarter alone, the Cadets took 14 shots that only resulted in one goal. Thomas also dominated at the face-off draw. Joe Stacy finished 10/11 (91%) for the Titans. He also led in ground balls with eight.

Thomas came out the gate scoring. Jake Giudice, who finished with 2g-1a, scored the opening goal of the contest just 0:39 into play. Troy Crevier assisted. Crevier, inside the top of the box sent the ball to Giudice who took a hard hit and shot the ball while falling down. Ten minutes later Giudice, from behind the cage, assisted John Zawacki for his lone goal of the game. Thomas led 2-0 after the first quarter.

In the second quarter, each team added a single goal. Thomas scored first with an unassisted goal from Giudice. With 0:01 remaining in the first half, Derek Richards scored unassisted for the Cadets. After taking the ball from a dead whistle, Richards beat his defender and bounced off another before scoring his goal. The Titans led at the end of the first half 3-1.

Thomas kept up the pressure coming out of halftime. The Titans scored with 10:27 remaining with an unassisted goal from John Hill. He started his cut from behind the cage and after beating his man scored with a bounce shot. With 4:45 remaining, the Titans scored again. Nick Schuman scored with an assist from John Hill. At the end of the third quarter, Thomas led 5-1.

In the fourth quarter, Schuman fed Crevier the ball for the final Titan goal with 9:19 remaining in the game. Hilton scored the final two goals of the game with Richards scoring a second goal at 5:21 with a clear out from behind the cage. Then with 2:55 remaining, the Cadets added their final goal with Cory Endres assisting Jake Montgomery for the score. Endres was at the top center of the box and fed Montgomery on the right wing.

The Thomas offense in the first half looked sharp, with crisp passing and both cuts and drives from the attackmen and the midfielders. Shots were taken frequently and with greater accuracy as time passed. Hilton took fewer shots in the game (32-24) and had fewer on cage (7 vs 17). The lack of Cadet shots was greatly influenced by the Titan long sticks that included Colin Blind, Alex Armstrong and Chris Dalton.

In the cage for Hilton, Mark Detroia finished with 11 saves (65%). For Thomas, John Bezek finished with five saves (63%).

  --    Penfield scored the first seven goals on their way to a 15-6 win over Brighton. The Patriots briefly brought the game into running time late in the third quarter before Brighton came back in the fourth. The Barons scored the final four goals of the game, and Penfield did not score in the final quarter.

Penfield had scoring from nine different players. Leading in scoring for the Patriots was senior midfielder Matt Condon with 4g-1a. Condon also finished with three ground balls. Attackman Andrew Huntington also finished with three ground balls for the Patriots as well as 2g-1a. Face-off man Dan Pulinski finished at 46% (6/13) and a team leading six ground balls. Defenseman Charlie Cummins stood out in the close defense with three one-on-one takes. In the cage, Keith Keehn played a little over three quarters and finished with six saves (67%). Nick Presicci played the final 10 minutes of the game and finished with three saves (50%).

Midfielder Vinny Rockwell stood out for the Barons at the face-off draw. He finished 14/23 (61%) and with five ground balls. Midfielder Casey Kopp finished with six ground balls and defensive midfielder Bill Banahene finished with seven. Banahene was impressive on the wing, as well as in the close defense for the Barons. Kopp led the offense with 1g-2a. In the cage, Tom Hilling finished with six saves.

  --  Aquinas scored six goals in the final quarter to cement their 10-3 win over Churchville-Chili. The Little Irish and the Saints were close for the first three quarters before Aquinas scored six goals on their first six shots in the final quarter. Churchville-Chili's lone goal of the fourth quarter came after the Little Irish 7-0 run, including the final goal of the previous quarter.

Aquinas outscored Churchville-Chili 3-1 in the first quarter. Billy Lombardi, Pete DiLaura and Alex Bianchi each added one tally for the Little Irish. Trevor Hodgins scored the lone Churchville-Chili goal with an assist from Andrew Goodermote. Hodgins goal was scored during a man-up attempt for the Saints. Churchville-Chili scored the first goal of the second quarter to bring the game within a single goal. Hodgins scored again, unassisted this time. Aquinas scored their fourth goal with 2:11 remaining in the second quarter with an unassisted goal from Jake Vogl.

Both teams were scoreless in the third quarter before Aquinas had their run in the fourth quarter. The final goal of the game was scored by Nolan Jessop (assisted by Hodgins). Defenseman Marc Pettrone led in ground balls with six and LSM Mike Perotto was just behind with five ground balls. Lombardi finished 8/11 (73%) at the face-off draw for the Little Irish.   --    In an intersectional match up between section 1 power Lakeland-Panas and section 5 power Penn Yan, the Mustangs played solid defense on their way to a 5-2 victory over the Rebels.

In the first period, Lakeland-Panas took a 1-0 lead when senior middie Chris Monteferante found sophomore attacker Brian Prunty cutting from behind the net. Prunty beat a diving Mustang goalie Brandon Maciejewski. The Mustangs had several chances in the first but were denied by sophomore net minder Michael Zingaro who turned away three PY shots in close. But the Rebels were held scoreless for the next 30 plus minutes by a relentless PY defense that put the ball on the ground numerous times. Sophomore goalie Brandon Maciejewski was also a factor in limiting the L-P scoring standing tall between the pipes and turning away a number of good looks by the Rebel attackers. Penn Yan tied the score at 1-1 halfway through the second quarter when Rion Davison found Bradley Voigt cutting on top of the crease. Voigt fired a low shot past Zingaro to score. The half ended with the game tied at 1-1.

Both teams played good defense into the third but Penn Yan scored a go ahead goal at the six minute mark when Voigt assisted junior Ryan Maciejewski. The Mustangs extended their lead four minutes later when senior Dylan Yonts drove hard from goal line extended, created some space, and beat the Rebel's goalie on diving shot. PY led 3-1 as the horn sounded to end the third.

PY scored their fourth goal on a fast break started when senior defenseman Kevin Kerrick made a nice play on the defensive end, picked up the ball and raced up field where he found Yonts. The defense was the key for the next several minutes but Lakeland-Panas made it interesting with a little over two minutes remaining when senior middie Tony Laguerre was able to beat Maciejewski on an extra man offense goal to cut the Mustang lead to 4-2. Play was unsettled over the next minute and a half but PY was able to control the ball. Coach Hobart called a timeout with 1:08 showing on the clock. The Mustangs passed the ball and Yonts tallied his third of the game with 47 seconds remaining securing a 5-2 win and ending the Mustang's spring break trip to the Hudson Valley on a good note.

PY has a quick turn around as they take on Canandaigua Friday night under the lights at Mustang Field.
