(January 14, 2009) - The American team from Rochester won the Adidas Brogden Cup, winning two games to one at Winter Springs High School in Orlando, Florida. The Rochester team was coached by Craig and Andrew Whipple along with Matt Knope.
Rochester won the first game 14-9 with Deven Alves (3g) and Ryan Yunker (3g-2a) leading the scoring. The Canadian team (Ontario) took the second game 14-8 with Mark Cockerton scoring 5g for the winners.
In the third game Jack Hinderland (4g)led in goals and Torin Var (2g), Hakeem Lecky (2g-2a) and Kenny Tomeno (2g) were joined by six others in the scorebook. Rochester won 14-7 behind great face off work by Tomeno who won 40 face off over the three game and added 17gbs and 3g as well. He was named the US MVP for the tournament.
The Rochester team took control in the first quarter and never looked back. Goalie Tyler White had 21s/7ga.
