Wednesday: Penn Yan and Canandaigua Win
Both Penn Yan and Canandaigua were able to unload their benches as the Mustangs beat visiting McQuaid Jesuit (18-7) and Canandaigua beat Waterloo 21-1 in Wednesday action.
Penn Yan 21 - Waterloo 1
-- Hot off their win over Carthage yesterday, Penn Yan scored on their first nine shots, before beating host Waterloo 21-1. With a 9-0 lead at the end of the first quarter Coach Brian Hobart was able to freely substitute, allowing twelve different Mustang players to make the scorebook. Fifteen of the twenty-one goals were assisted and the Mustangs won the face off battle, going 12/22 with Ty Trombley taking the majority for Penn Yan. Trombley also led in ground ball production with seven.
Ethan Kamholtz started in the goal for the Mustangs and recorded 3s/0ga before he came out at the end of the first quarter. Freshman Cody Richardson played the remaining 36 minutes between the pipes adding 4s/1ga.
Scoring for the Mustangs were Adam Trombley (1g-4a), Anthony Luppino (1g-2a), Adam Stork (2a), John Linnan (3f-4a), Cole Castle (4g), Matt Osgood (5g), Ty Trombley (1g), Nate Nichols (3g), Brendan Minor (1g), Dylan Yonts (2g-1a), Preston Maciejewski (1a), and Scott Miller (1a). PY improves to 3-1.
Scoring for Waterloo were Pete Vacca (1g) and Jordan Cook (1a). Zach Ramirez had one gave and Jordan Cook added four more for the Indians.
Canandaigua 18 - McQuaid Jesuit 7
-- Canandaigua took an 8-1 first quarter lead as they beat visiting McQuaid Jesuit 18-7 tonight.The Braves used three goalies for the win and thirteen different players made the scorebook.
Scoring for Canandaigua were Deven Alves (2g-1a), Tanner Scharr (1g), Brian Scheetz (1g-3a), Marshall Johnson (1g), Tom LaCrosse (3g-2a), Gannon Osborn (1g), Bryan Peck (1g), Collin Peck (2g), Eric Schott (1g), Brandon Thomson (4g), Jordan Reals (1a), Adam Knapton (1a), and Matt George (1g). Nick King played 1st quarter in goal and had 2s/1ga. Anthony DeLeo played in the second and third quarters and had 5s/4ga and LaShawn Williams played final quarter and had 1s/2ga for the Braves (2-1) who face Corning East (section IV) on Friday. Corning East is ranked #3 on this week's Class B NYSSWA poll while Canandaigua is ranked #14.
Scoring for McQuaid Jesuit were Alex Pautler (2g), Nick Wolak (1g), John Jenkins (1g), Eric Wright (1g), James Sturnick (1g) and Ryan Williams (1g). Pat Sheridan played in one quarter and had 1s/8ga and Ethan Matteson played for three quarters and logged 9s/10ga for the Knights.
