Schroeder Uses OT For Win Over Irondequoit

Thursday: DAY IN REVIEW: In the closet game of the night, Schroeder defeated Irondequoit 11-10. This is the third overtime game of the season for the Eagles (and the first that they have lost). AJ Fiorio scored his second goal of the game with 2:49 remaining in overtime with a feed from Connor Ball to give the Warriors the win.

Waterloo at Marcus WhitmanSchroeder opened up the scoring with three unanswered goals. Hunter Olsen, Brandon Marquez and Jonathan Kay each scored unassisted goals for the Warriors. With 5:07 remaining in the opening quarter, Schroeder led 3-0. Irondequoit responded by scoring eight of the next nine goals to take an 8-4 lead with 2:51 remaining in the third quarter. The Eagles held the Warriors to hold a single goal late in the second quarter.

Irondequoit had scoring from five different players in the streak with Quinn Simonson leading the charge with three. Schroeder began a slow comeback in final three minutes of the third quarter. Ball and Connor Bollin scored for the Warriors to put them within two (6-8) going into the final 12 minutes. Schroder kept up their pressure with back to back goals to open the fourth. Mareck Christman and Justin Connolly scored to tie the game for the third time at 8-8. Connolly scored again to give Schroeder their first lead since the first quarter. Senior defenseman Ryan Pease scored his second goal of the season to keep the game tied 9-9. Connolly and Kessel Stefano each added another goal to bring the game to 10-10. Fiorio’s overtime goal gave the Warriors the win and moved them to 7-5.

Geneva had a one-goal win over visiting Wayne (6-4) today with Sam Miller scoring 2g-1a and Blake Knifley added 2g for the Panthers(7-5). Jacob Drennen recorded seven saves (59%). Ryan Cahill led Wayne with 1g-3a.

After a close first quarter, Victor took off in the second and led at the half 5-2. There was lots of scoring in the third as Victor scored six and Fairport scored four. Sam Lambert led the Blue Devils with 1g-5a and Camden Hay added 5g. Leading the offense for Fairport was Spencer Bell with 4g-1a

Waterloo at Marcus WhitmanNoteworthy: Parker Casselman joined Taylor Clements (in the last game) and went over the 100 career point mark for Newark. Jake Buck reached 200 goals in his career at Churchville-Chili today.

St. Joseph scored the final three goals to overtake Pittsford and defeat the Panthers 10-8. The game featured five ties and four lead changes and was never further apart than two goals. Pittsford scored the first two goals with Ben DiGiovanni scoring the lone two goals of the first quarter. St. Joe’s responded with four unanswered goals to go up 4-2 with 8:00 remaining in the half. Pittsford fought back to a 5-5 tie going into halftime.

In the second half, Pittsford scored the first goal to put them back on top. St. Joe’s tied with Ryan Mcgorry’s third goal of the night. The game was tied 6-6 going into the final 12 minutes. Pittsford again pulled ahead with a goal from John Avery (assisted by John Mozrall). St. Joe’s tied and Ryan Dumont scored off a feed from Mozrall to put the Panthers up for the final time. The Marauders scored the final three goals to secure the win and increase their record to 8-2. Pittsford is now 5-6.

Haverling scored the first four goals and Livonia-Avon never tied the game in the Rams 13-11 win. The Lakers finished out the game with the last four goals to pull within two (the closest of the game). The Rams were led in scoring by Connor Cupp (5g-2a). Cullen Coons (1g-4a) and Ryan Haugh (2g-3a) led in scoring for the Lakers.

Marcus Whitman held off the late advances of Waterloo to defeat the Indians 13-11 on senior day. The game was close for the first three quarters until the Wildcats pulled away with a streak of seven out of eight spanning the third quarter. Waterloo scored the first two goals to take an early lead. They held that lead until the final goal of the first quarter. Schuyler Bredesen scored an unassisted goal with 1:14 remaining to put Marcus Whitman up 3-2. Waterloo responded with three unanswered goals in the second quarter. They went into halftime up 5-3.

In the third quarter, the Wildcats went on a scoring streak. They scored seven and held the Indians to a single goal. In the final quarter, Waterloo attempted to comeback but could not force another tie. The closest they came was 10-9 before Marcus Whitman scored another pair to pull back on top. Seth Benedict (4g-2a) and Timmy Cornish (2g-4a) led in scoring for the Wildcats. Andre Pinkard (1g-5a) and Dillon McCann (6g) led for the Indians.

Also winning today were HF-L, Rush-Henrietta, Eastridge, Brockport, Hilton, Pal-Mac, Gananda and Newark
