Victor Spoils Corning Undefeated Season
Saturday: DAY IN REVIEW: Updated: Victor faced a strong Corning team, who had eleven wins before today and spoiled their undefeated season with a 14-3 win at home. Leading the offense was sophomore attackman Camden Hay who had 4g. Nine other players each scored one goal. Senior midfielder Tucker Hill had eleven face off wins (92%). Canandaigua beat Orchard Park on the road.
Fairport beat Ithaca 17-5 behind offensive performances by Spencer Bell (6g) and Klay Stuver (3g-2a). Josh Gangarossa recorded five saves (63%) in 34 minutes in the cage.
Hilton had four ties in their game with Skaneatles before going ahead for the final time in the third quarter and taking the 9-6 win at home. Jordan DePetres led with 4g-1a. Ben Mitrano added 3g-1a, Jacob Kelsey made twelve saves (67%) and Shawn Doran won fourteen of eighteen draws.
Mitch Pfeiffer's unassisted goal at 3:26 in the last quarter to give Canandaigua the 7-6 victory over Orchard Park (Section 6). The game was tied four times and gives the Braves a 5-6 record while OP, who still is scheduled to play Penfield, Pittsford and Fairport drops to 6-2.
Gavin Lathrop scored the game winning goal only 17 seconds into overtime to give Midlakes the 8-7 win over Mynderse. Lathrop's goal was his seventh of the game's eight goals. The Screaming Eagles scored the first goal of the game 0:22 into the second quarter. They held that lead for four minutes before Mynderse began a four-goal streak. Andrew Peterman (2), Evan Trout and Varun Tewari scored the Blue Devils. Over the next two quarters, Midlakes slowly fought back to a 5-5 tie with 3:18 remaining in the third quarter.
The last four goals of regulation alternated teams with Mynderse taking the lead and Midlakes forcing a tie. The lone goal for Midlakes that was not scored by Lathrup was the game tying goal. Matt Mattoon (1g-3a) scored with 8:22 remaining in the final quarter to put the game at 7-7. The overtime goal was assisted by Brandon Macdonell. This is the second overtime win for Midlakes, who increased their record to 6-3.
Rush-Henrietta took a 7-5 halftime lead to a 15-9 win over visiting Oswego. Sophomore attackman, Gunner MacMillan led the offense with 6g-1a and his class mate, Nick Cowie added 4g-1a for the Royal Comets. Cameron Kuzniar recorded fourteen saves (61% in 46 minutes in the cage.
Also winning today were Churchville-Chili, Pal-Mac, Schroeder, McQuaid, Wayne, Geneva, Penn Yan and Spencerport.
