Stafano Goal Gives The Eagles a Win over CA
Kessel Stefano scored this second goal in a row to give the Eagles a 12-11 win over Canandaigua. He scored with 0:09 remaining in regulation. The first half was back and forth with both teams leading.
Irondequoit scored first with Mike Coholan scoring unassisted 92 seconds into the contest. The Braves came back with three back to back goals of their own to take a 3-1 lead with 3:39 remaining in the first. Connor McClain, Carson Greene and Devin Andrews scored for the Braves. Irondequoit continued to pressure and added two more goals before the end of the first. Nick Slattery scored both goals, the first was assisted by Jack Brennan and the second was unassisted. The score was tied 3-3 after the first quarter.
The teams both continued to jockey for the lead in the second quarter. By the end of the quarter, neither had been able to hold the lead and the score was tied at 6-6. I the third quarter, Irondequoit came out swinging and scored three straight goals. Coholan and Brennan (2) scored all three unassisted. The Braves fought back with Mark Belles scoring back to back. The final goal of the third quarter was scored by Brennan. He picked up a loose ball at midfield and took it all the way himself for a fast break goal. Irondequoit led 10-8 going into the fourth.
Canandaigua scored three of the next four goal to tie the game at 11-11. With 0:42 remaining in regulation, Belles scored his third goal of the night to tie the game. On the ensuring face-off, Irondequoit grabbed the ball and called a timeout. Stefano ended up with the ball and scored unassisted for the game winner. In the cage for Irondequoit, Patrick Hynes recorded 20 saves. For the Braves, Brandon Moore and Tim Rice split halves. Rice recorded 6 saves and Moore recorded 1.
