Burek Scores in Overtime
Reese Burek scored with 2:38 remaining in the first overtime period to give Fairport the 4-3 win over Webster Schroeder. The Warriors scored all three of their goals in the opening quarter and led 3-1 after 12 minutes.
After last weeks 5-4 loss to Irondequoit (HERE) the Warriors have dropped back to back games with thier opponent fighting back from a deficit.
Fairport scored the opening goal with Kyle McAvoy assisting Jake Bucci 1:04 into the contest. Schroeder scored the next three goals with scoring from Brandon Marquez, Joe Carra and Collin Griffin. Griffin scored the final Warrior goal with 0:47 left in the first quarter. They were held scoreless for the final 38 minutes. Fairport added their second goal in the second quarter and the tying goal in the third quarter.
Neither team scored in the fourth quarter. The Red Raiders had significant time with the ball and ended up with 11 shots and 8 on cage. Schroeder goalie Antonio DeLeo stopped all eight shots to keep the game tied and force overtime. Burek's goal was the first shot in overtime.
For the Red Raiders, Jake Santini recorded 5 saves. Midfielders Matt Cronk, Jake Bucci and Burek each finished with 3 ground balls to lead Fairport.
