Truax, Yakowitz Combine for Seven Goals
GATES CHILI-12 at BATAVIA-NOTRE DAME-2 - Gates Chili beat Batavia-Notre Dame 12-2 Friday evening in a non-league game, moving to 2-10. Seven different Spartans scored, senior Tremier Lewis scored his first career varsity goal, and defensive standout Max Gause reached 100 ground balls on the season. For Batavia-Notre Dame, senior Aiden Kopper set a new program record for career takeaways, finishing with seven on the night. Batavia-Notre Dame falls to 4-7.
Noah Truax led Gates Chili with four goals and an assist, while Joshua Yakowitz added three goals and three assists. Zach Fennell contributed one goal and three assists, Chandler Vogel added one goal and two assists, and Gause chipped in two assists. Callaway Phommachanh, Colin Mancuso and Lewis each scored one goal. In goal, junior Demar Williams made six saves on eight shots (75%) over 48 minutes.
For Batavia-Notre Dame, Harold Mellander and Nolan Radley each scored one goal, with Trey Rodriguez adding an assist. In goal, senior Branden Flanagan made 13 saves on 25 shots (52%) over 48 minutes.
Gates Chili hosts East United-Eastridge on Wednesday evening. Batavia-Notre Dame travels to East United-Eastridge on Monday evening.
