Schweitzer Boys Combine for 14 Points
NEWARK-8 at LIVONIA-AVON-GENESEO-21 - Livonia-Avon-Geneseo picked up a 21-8 win over Newark on Tuesday afternoon at home, scoring nine goals in the first quarter and seven more in the second to take control. Eight different players scored for LAG, which has now won both all-time meetings with Newark.
For Livonia-Avon-Geneseo (2-1), sophomore Will Schweitzer led with six goals and two assists, while eighth-grader Owen Schweitzer added three goals and three assists and eighth-grader Stavros Kolokouris contributed one goal and five assists. Senior Nikolai Hanna chipped in three goals and two assists, junior Jack Ackerman added three goals, and junior Rider VanZandt contributed three goals and one assist. First varsity goals went to Ackerman, junior Ronan Class, and freshman Brian Gibbs, while Class, sophomore Connor Duryea, and Kolokouris each recorded their first varsity assists. Junior VanZandt went 15-for-20 at the faceoff dot (75%) and Gibbs added eight wins in 12 attempts (67%). Senior Ayden Szymanski stopped 11 shots for a 58% save percentage in goal.
For Newark (0-4), senior Sam Underhill led with five goals, while junior Evan Shulla added two goals and three assists and junior Nazeer Garicia chipped in one goal.
