Haverling Secures First Win
Haverling triumphed 16-5 over Batavia-Notre Dame in a non-league game on Thursday, April 3, at Haverling's home field. Sophomore Gavin Price led Haverling with three goals, followed by sophomore Zach Colegrove who contributed three goals and two assists. Junior Warren McCormick also netted three goals. Sophomore Noah Schneider recorded one goal and five assists. Freshmen Caden Fairbrother and Josh Wheeler each scored their first Varsity goals, with Fairbrother adding a second later in the match. Junior goalie McLane Stermole had a perfect performance, stopping four shots and allowing zero goals in thirty-six minutes of play. Rahman Mallonji took over in the final quarter.
Batavia-Notre Dame fought back in the fourth quarter with goals by sophomore Cyrus D'Alba, Trey Rodriguez, Harold Mellander, John Scheidt, and junior Gavynn Trippany. D'Alba, Rodriguez, and Scheidt each scored their first Varsity goals during this matchup, showcasing determination despite the team's second loss of the season. Trippany contributed one assist and sophomore Jeremiah Childs added another assist. Goalies Branden Flanagan and James Rachow split time, recording a combined five saves.
Both teams will look ahead to upcoming matches, with Haverling traveling to Midlakes on Tuesday, April 8, and Batavia-Notre Dame hosting Newark the same day. . [ BOX SCORE]
