Canandaigua Aims to Reload 

Preseason Outlook

Canandaigua begins the 2026 season following a highly successful 19–3 campaign in 2025, one defined by strong scoring balance, tight defensive play, and deep postseason success culminating in a state finals appearance.

With thirteen seniors graduated, the Grey Wolves turn to a roster led by ten rising seniors and nine juniors. Despite the graduation of several All-Section standouts, the team brings back 29 percent of its goals and 11 percent of its assists, and the foundation of a traditionally strong defensive identity remains intact.

Returning Players

The Grey Wolves retain several important contributors who earned postseason recognition last year. Leading the defensive unit is Jack Dedrick, who returns after earning first-team All-League honors. He is joined by defenders Marshall Bolster and Max Eckdahl, both named second-team All-League selections, giving Canandaigua an experienced defensive core.

On the offensive side, 2026 attackman Patrick Olvany returns after a highly productive 49-goal season and second-team All-League recognition. Midfielder Cayden Gullace adds further experience after earning honorable-mention honors.

In goal, 2026 goalkeeper Quentin Shedrick brings back postseason experience following a season in which he posted a 47.0 percent save rate and earned Section 5 Class B All-Tournament Team honors. Defender Chase Williamee also returns as an honorable-mention selection.

Although the team loses heavy senior scoring, including major contributors such as Mike Belles, Ryan Bremer, and Drew Williamee, the returning group provides a competitive defensive backbone and experienced finishers capable of guiding the offense.

Coaching Information

Head Coach Deven York enters his tenth season leading the program, carrying an outstanding 112–41 record. A Canandaigua alum himself, York continues to oversee one of the most consistent and disciplined programs in Section V. "It’s always a blessing when you can watch a team grow on the field because of what they do off the field. This team is coming together well. Excited for the challenge of section V lacrosse, It’s a gauntlet."

Games This Year

The 2026 schedule includes several key Monroe County Division III matchups. Canandaigua hosts HFL on April 10 and Gates Chili on April 21 and travels to Brockport on April 29 and Churchville-Chili on May 5. A home meeting against Spencerport on May 13 also falls within the league slate. These games will play an important role in determining the team’s conference position.

The team also faces a demanding non-league schedule, which includes contests against Irondequoit, Jamesville-DeWitt, Pittsford, Victor, Fairport, Hilton, Baldwinsville, Penn Yan, Penfield, Orchard Park, and Corning. This slate mirrors the competitive variety of last season’s schedule, which featured wins over Corning, JD, Orchard Park, and Penn Yan as well as tightly contested losses to Baldwinsville and Pittsford.

Statistical Overview

Canandaigua scored 300 goals in 2025, averaging 13.6 goals per game while allowing 177 goals for an 8.0 goals-against average. Eleven victories came by more than five goals, with ten contests decided within five goals, including three one-goal wins and two one-goal losses. With 86 returning goals and 16 returning assists, the Grey Wolves enter 2026 with a smaller percentage of offensive production returning, but a sturdy defensive core and experienced leadership remain strengths.
