Webster Schroeder High School rising senior Kenny Nelson recently announced his commitment to play lacrosse at Mercyhurst University (Erie, PA). The attackman, was the team leader in goals and points with 29g-5a last year. Off-season he had been on the Nike Upstate Rising junior team, and last summer played on the Brine National tournament where he was named a Brine All-American. He also played on the Western Team in the Empire Cup Tournament in Syracuse.

Mercyhurst is a member of the NCAA (Division II) and ECAC. The Lakers posted their first undefeated regular season record last year, with a 13-0 record. They lost to Dowling who eventually won the NCAA D-II tournament. They will be led in 2013 by Canandaigua alumnus Brian Scheetz, who was selected as the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Attackman of the Year in 2012.
