Once again this year, SportsFive will publish, each week, rankings in each class. SportsFive will continue to publish the New York State Sportswriters poll and will provide links to the Laxpower national polls.

After finishing week two there was very little by way of victories to change very much in the rankings. Teams are still shaking out and trying to separate between the top of the Class and the other strata. Injury and eligibility issues can take a contender right out of the mix. With many more weeks, there are still many possible changes to come in the rankings.

CLASS A
In Class A, it we feel that Canandaigua, Irondequoit and Penfield are clearly better the rest of Class A at end of two weeks. We have added Fairport to the list as the result of their wins over RH and Thomas last week, which clearly distinguishes them within that group. The HM list of Thomas, Schroeder and Rush-Henrietta are still so close that there is we simply kept them honorable mentions this week.

This week Fairport plays both Canandaigua and Penn Yan which will give them an opportunity to make a statement against two fine teams. Schroeder also plays Penn Yan and has a game with Amherst (Buffalo) so they have an opportunity to make a statement too. Canandaigua plays Corning East on Saturday in game that will offer the winner more than bragging rights.

CLASS B
The Class B lists stays the same as week one with Geneva still the top of the heap and with Aquinas and Victor in pursuit. Although Victor had a tough loss to Penn Yan, they are still looking strong in comparison to Class B teams. In what could foreshadow a tournament contest, Geneva and Aquinas play on Thursday. Victor also play Aquinas (Monday) and could make things move if they win that one.

CLASS C
The Class C rankings have only minor changes this week. Penn Yan remains the dominant force, as they have been for over a decade. Livonia remains in the number two slot. With a small (two goal) loss to Livonia and a strong win over Batavia, Haverling moves into the third spot. After another loss (this time to a vary good team at Tully), Waterloo moves to 0-3 this season and to fourth position in the rankings. We still feel that Waterloo is a threat in Class C, however, they will have to come back as a team and recover from their roster problems.

GAMES THIS WEEK
Vacation week 2008 is full of great competition as mentioned above. Other exciting match ups include Thomas-Irondeqoit, Geneva-McQuaid Jesuit, Livonia-RH, Gates-RH and Greece Lightning-BH.
