The Monroe County Medical Examiner, in a report
filed this summer, stated that Pittsford freshman lacrosse player, Jeff Milano-Johnson's death last spring was the result of a cerebral artery aneurysm and that there was no indication that he was hit in the head with a lacrosse ball.
"My son died on the lacrosse field, but not from anything anyone did," Jeff's father, Jim Johnson told the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle. "Even if he was (hit with a ball) ... there was no evidence of it."
The lacrosse community was stunned last April, when, during warm-ups, Jeff, a starter, who was an offensive scoring leader, suddenly dropped on the field at Spencerport. Many in attendance thought that he had been hit by a ball after entering the net to clear balls from a shooting drill.
The family and community continues to raise money in Jeff's name to support lacrosse programs. Information is available at the Pittsford Lacrosse site.
