In the earliest years, there were only 199 All-Americans for the whole country, so the number in each area that played was small. Monroe County and Finger Lakes teams shared the number of awards and picked their own winners.

Penfield finished last year as seeded (sixth) in the tournament after a first round win over Greece Ath/Ody and a loss to third seeded Pittsford.

A scholarship fund was established in the memory of Jeff Milano-Johnson, the 14 year old varsity lacrosse high school freshman who died while practicing for a lacrosse game in 2007.

Brad Hutton scored the winning goal in overtime to send Webster Thomas (Class A) into the NYS Tournament along with Canandaigua (Class B) and Penn Yan (Class C), who all won Section Five Championships today at St. John Fisher College.

All Tournament Teams have been announced for 2009. MVP for A, B and C were Kenny Tomeno (Thomas), Deven Alves (Canandaigua) and, for the second year in a row, Matt Osgood (Penn Yan).

The top four seeded teams prevailed tonight in each class as Penn Yan, Geneva, Aquinas and Livonia advanced in the Class C tournament and Fairport, SChroeder, Thomas and Pittsford advanced in the Class A tournament. The semi final round is on Tuesday.

here were two upsets in the Class A out bracket as the 12th seeded Gates Chili beat the 5th seeded Brockport and the 9th seeded Hilton upset the 8th seeded Rush-Henrietta. Schroeder, Churchville and penfield all won their games as seeded. In Class C all the higher seeded teams won. Moving on are Batavia, Geneva, Midlakes, Haverling and Pal-Mac.

Thomas won a contest of heavyweights with a 18-6 victory over visiting Irondequoit. Rush-Henrietta was a 13-11 winner over Gates Chili and HFL won their game 11-10 over Eastridge. Other winners on the last big night of games were Fairport, Brighton, Canandaigua, Brockport, Penn Yan, Batavia, Schroeder, C-C, Midlakes and Pal-Mac.

Canandaigua was a won goal winner over Geneva (6-5). Spencerport won their game with Brockport in overtime (11-10). Pal-Mac beat B-H by one (7-6) and Midlakes, Penfield, Waterloo, Fairport, Batavia, Irondequoit, Brighton and Thomas were all winners in the last week of the regular season.

Webster Schroeder was a 12-8 winner over Penfield and Waterloo beat Bloomfield-Honeoye 12-11 in overtime as the two winners were joined by twelve others at the regular season starts to run down.

Penfield used three late fourth quarter goals to defeat Pittsford 7-6. Rush-Henrietta won a 7-6 victory over visiting Hilton and McQuaid Jesuit won a GRALL game with their 8-7 win over Livonia.

It was Penfield over Gates Chili (12-6), Irondequoit over Aquinas (10-8) and Thomas over McQuaid Jesuit (14-4). Other winners were Penn Yan, Mynderse over Waterloo in OT, Pal-Mac and Spencerport.

Batavia set school records for most goals scored as well as fewest goals allowed in a single game in their 20-4 win over the Greece Lightning. McQuaid Jesuit won a GRALL victory with an 8-7 win over Livonia. Penfield defeated Churchville-Chili 12-9 and Fairport took Pittsford 10-4. Other winners included Canandaigua, Brighton, Midlakes, Brockport, Pal-Mac and Hilton.

Penfield ended their league season first in Monroe County Division I with a 9-1 record (15-1 overall). Seeded third in the Class A tournament the Patriots defeated sixth seeded Schroeder 6-5 in overtime in the quarterfinals, but then lost to second seeded Irondequoit in the semifinals to finish as seeded.

There were only four games scheduled for the holiday weekend. Webster Thomas continued their winning streak (4-0) while ending Aquinas' (5-1). Penfield was a 9-4 winner over Victor, Gates Chili beat the Greece Thunder and Churchville-Chili beat Brockport.

Although a number of games resulted in blowouts today, two were settled in overtime and two others were very close. Churchville-Chili was a 9-8 ot winner against Gates Chili, and Aquinas was a 10-9 ot winner against McQuaid Jesuit in GRALL Play.

With a major change in the NYS Class alignments, Canandaigua and Irondequoit move to Class B, making that class much more challenging, while maintaining that exciting rivalry. Geneva and Aquinas, who have, in the past, elected to move up from Class C, now like the idea of taking on Penn Yan instead of CA and IQ.

There were eleven games on an unusually beautiful March game day. Pittsford won a 6-5 game against Churchville-Chili, and Irondequoit won an 11-6 victory over Penfield, but the rest of the games were lopsided victories and six went into running time.

Hudson Valley controlled the game and won the bronze medal (7-5) in men's lacrosse at the 31st annual Empire State Games. The entire team contributed to the victory but the game was won on the exemplary achievements of two particular Valley players.

Western played a smart game and defeated Adirondack 11-4. Western attack led their scoring with 9/11 goals. Adirondack had four different players score.

The fourth quarter was the deciding factor in the Hudson Valley vs Western game. Western won the first quarter 4-2 and held the two goal lead for three quarters.Valley scored four unanswered goals at the start the last quarter to take the lead away from Western and build their own two goal lead.

In one of the best games of the tournament, Western and Central played an exciting game with two equally matched teams. Both teams were in excellent form and demonstrated a high level of lacrosse skill and team strategy.

Long Island opened up with a hard fought victory over Western. The game was a game of streaks with the Island having a streak of four and one of eight while Western had two streaks of four and one of three.

In the final game of the first day of competition, the Western team easily defeated New York City, 12-4. Three of NYC`s four goals were scored during EMO and three of NYC goals were scored by Forest Sonnenfeldt.

Penfield (#3) won a squeaker in overtime and advances to the semi finals after a 6-5 win over Schroeder (#6). Thomas(#5) beat McQuaid Jesuit (#4) 14-9) while Canandaigua(#1) remains undefeated.

Irondequoit avenged their first season meeting with Penfield and in a close one, ended the Patriots undefeated season. In other close games HFL beat Eastridge 9-7, Canandaigua remains the only undefeated Section Five team with a 9-7 win over Penn Yan, McQuaid Jesuit over Corning West (16-14) and Schroeder played a close one winning 8-6 over Fairpor

McQuaid Jesuit won the GRALL Championship tonight in a close win over Aquinas and Canandaigua and Penfield both remained undefeated after action today.

Both Penfield and Canandaigua remain undefeated with games that were easily won today. Canandaigua beat Mynderse 21-4 and Penfield beat Rush-Henrietta 20-7. Other winners included Brockport, HFL, Churchville, Thomas, Canandaigua and Penn Yan.

Penfield remains undefeated with an 11-5 win over Fairport. In other contests Ath/Ody was the winner over Batavia, Thomas over Brighton, Gates over Brockport, Hilton over Eastridge and Schroeder over Pittsford. Also winning were Irondequoit over Rush, Livonia over Haverling, Geneva over Victor and BH over Midlakes.

Schroeder had a big win today as they defeated Fairport 12-4. Penfield remained undefeated with an 11-7 win over Irondequoit. In other match ups it was Brockport over Arc/Oly, Thomas over CC, Gates over Ath/Ody, CA over Midlakes and Geneva over Mynderse. Pittsford had a 12-8 win over R-H, Penn Yan beat Pal-Mac, Victor was (10-7) over Waterloo and McQuaid Jesuit was a winner over BH. HFL beat Eastridge 5-4 and Aquinas beat Haverling 14-6.

There was lots of action on Thursday with many league games. Winners today included Irondequoit, Churchville-Chili, Fairport, Penfield, Haverling, Victor, Canandaigua, Geneva, Penn Yan Athena/Odyssey, Thomas, and McQuaid Jesuit, who won in Buffalo against St. Francis. Close games included Eastridge over Brighton (6-5) and Penfield over Schroeder.

There were five games on the first Tuesday night schedule. Penfield won a close game with Thomas (11-8). Midlakes won their opener 9-2 over Batavia. Penn Yan was the 13-0 winner over visiting Mynderse while Aquinas won a close game against Churchville-Chili. West Genesee was a 7-4 winner over host Irondequoit.

All but one game in the Class A out bracket round was won by the higher seed and that one exception saw a determined Pittsford (11th) beat Rush-Henrietta (#6) and a exciting and very close game.

Proving how close the Class A teams are this year, Schroeder beat Irondequoit in a close game (6-5). Rush-Henrietta was an 11-7 winner over Churchville-Chili. Livonia beat Aquinas, Brighton beat Gates in OT, Penn Yan beat Amherst and Fairport beat Orchard Park. Other winners included Eastridge, Penfield, Hilton, Pittsford and Newark.

There were twelve games scheduled for Thursday and a number of games ended with lopsided scores. Among the winners today were Hilton, R-H, Thomas, Schroeder, C-C, GC, Geneva, Penn Yan Victor and Newark

Canandaigua was a decisive winner over Penn Yan today. Fairport beat Corning East 10-3, Schroeder won the cross town game and Irondequoit remained undefeated with a win over Gates Chili today. Other winners included Eastridge, Brighton, R-H, C-C, Penfield and AQ .

The Rochester Chapter of USLacrosse has announced the 2009 Senior All Star Game selections. This year's contest, featuring some of the best of the graduating seniors will be held on Saturday, July 11th at Victor High School. The boys' game will be at 7:00 PM and will be preceded by the Girls' game at 5:00 PM.
