All but one game in the Class A out bracket round was won by the higher seed and that one exception saw a determined Pittsford (11th) beat Rush-Henrietta (#6) and a exciting and very close game.

For the first time in eleven years, Geneva posted a win against Penn Yan as they won 8-4 at home on the last day of the regular season.

In the last week of the regular season, the MC league is nearly finished and there was lots of action today. Winners included Fairport, Schroeder, Spencerport, Eastridge, Irondequoit, Churchville, Hilton, Brockport, Newark, Waterloo, Livonia, Geneva and Canandaigua.

Wednesday ’s contests were all Finger Lakes cross-over games and ones that went to running time as Penn Yan, Canandaigua, Victor and Geneva were all victorious.

All three games were mismatches on Friday. Aquinas, Canandaigua and McQuaid Jesuit all had victories.

Hilton posted its sixth win in a season with their 3-2 game with Brighton. Brockport was a 9-4 winner over HFL and Canandaigua, Livonia and McQuaid Jesuit won their games on Wednesday.

Fairport defeated the last of the undefeated teams this afternoon when the beat visiting Irondequoit, 8-7 in overtime. Rush-Henrietta had a 10-9 win over Penfield, Pittsford played a great game against Schroeder but lost 7-9. The Thunder won in the 2nd OT. A total of 13 games were scheduled on Thursday.

Twelve games were scheduled for Thursday and among the winners were Irondequoit, Penn Yan, Schroeder, Canandaigua, Livonia, Gates, Churchville and the Thunder. Also winning were Eastridge, Waterloo and Midlakes.

Canandaigua took an early 6-1 lead in the first quarter on their way to a 17-5 win over Canisius of Section VI

Both Schroeder and Thomas were winners in games played today. The Warriors beat Amherst (Section 6) 10-4 and the Titans beat Fairport 13-12 in a game full of momentum swings. Other winners included Livonia, McQuaid Jesuit, Brighton, Churchville-Chili, Geneva and Canandaigua.

Thomas was the overtime winner 10-9 in their game at HFL. Fairport was the 9-3 winner at Irondequoit and Aquinas was the 8-3 winner in GRALL action.

Six games today were against teams from outside Section Five and the Section Five teams won all but one of the contests. Fairport beat Orchard Park in a big game in Buffalo, Geneva beat Corning West, Penn Yan beat Amherst, HFL beat Hamburg and Victor beat Sweet Home. Canandaigua lost by one goal to Baldwinsville of Section Three.

Penfield, Schroeder and Fairport have now proved the idea that parity is alive and well in the Monroe County Class A teams. In other close games today, Brockport beat Athena/Odyssey by one goal as did Aquinas in their game with McQuaid Jesuit.

For the most part it was cross-over day in Section Five. McQuaid Jesuit lost to St. Francis of Buffalo and Rush-Henrietta beat visiting Livonia. The rest of the games were league games with non-divisional teams.

There were six games played on Thursday during vacation week. Defense was the name of the game at Penn Yan where the Mustangs scored the game winner in the last minute of the game. Canandaigua won by a goal at Irondequoit and Geneva scored three goals in last quarter to beat McQuaid Jesuit.

Seven games were scheduled for Saturday and four of them were planned for the new turf field at Waterloo High School. Many games seemed to fall as expected.  

Inside Lacrosse has West Genesee in the number one spot in the National High School Poll but Penn Yan played a close game and, in fact was down 6-5 with just over 4:00 left in the game.
