Our Lacrosse Family Suffers A Loss

Harvey and Sharon Stoler and Raymond and Sharon Shortino will be remembered later this week when family and friends assemble to share stories and celebrate the lives of four people who loved each other and the game of lacrosse. Last Friday, the four long-time friends were on the way back from watching family members and their friends play in the Lake Placid tournament when the private plane, flown by Ray Shortino, crashed shortly after take off from the Adirondack Regional Airport. The NFHS Rules Committee finished their work in July and the list of rules changes for 2016 (and later) have been approved by the FHHS Board of Directors. Four "major" changes have been announced as well as a list of "Points of Emphasis". Full Story

2015 Season Wrap Up

Section V lacrosse lost a team during the season (Avon) to low numbers and injuries so the Section ended the season with thirty-five team. The session ended with just under 1, 500 Varsity boys playing. The good news is that Avon hopes to be back for the 216 season. Full Story

Another Title for Victor - Scholar-Athletes

At the end of each sport season, the NYSPHSAA honors those teams that excel in the classroom. For lacrosse, a team must have at least eleven players who have a 90% average or better during the spring season. Full Story

US Lacrosse Coaching Education Available

The Greater Rochester Chapter of US Lacrosse will, again, be offering the Level One Clinic on Sunday, November 22. The clinic, which is part of the program leading to certification, will be available for both the men`s and the women`s game. The local chapter will subsidize half of the cost. Local coaches will pay $37.50 until November 1st and then $45 after. Full Story
