Recruiting Lacrosse Officials

- The Genesee Valley Lacrosse Officials Association(GVLOA) is currently recruiting officials for the upcoming spring season. The association is responsible for officiating boys’ Section V high school lacrosse. As the sport continues to grow there is a great demand for officials.  Full Story

2006 Playing Rule Changes

All games played in the section are governed by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) 2006 Boys Lacrosse Rules Book. Every coach should have a copy of the rules book and should be familiar with the rules. The book is available for $6.75 but members of the coaches’ branch of US Lacrosse receive the book as a benefit. New York State makes changes in the rules from time to time.Federation Full Story

2005 Tournament Summary

At the end of regular season Penfield dodged the bullet with a one goal win at Fairport and completed their regular season undefeated at 16-0. Canandaigua finished at 16-1 with their only loss to Baldwinsville. Brighton finished at 14-2 with both losses to HF-L who ended their season at 15-1 with their single loss to Schroeder. Full Story

Thursday: NYS Semi finals

Section Three made it a clean sweep, winning all three classes in the semi finals at Aquinas on Thursday. West Genesee won a 17-2 victory over Orchard Park of Section Six in Class A, Jamesville DeWitt was the 10-6 winner over HF-L in Class B and Lafayette was the 13-7 winner over Penn Yan in Class C.  Full Story

The winners of the the quarterfinals win the Western Regional Championships and two where from Section Five and one went to Section Six. Full Story

2005 All Tournament Teams

The 2005 Section Five Tournaments are over and the Champions have been determined. An All Tournament Team is selected for each Class Tournament. The MVP for Class A was senior attackman, Dan Groot of Canandaigua. In Class B/C the MVP was Penn Yan's, sennior attackman, Jon Van Houten. Full Story

Friday: Championship Night

The weather was great, the stands were full of fan and the performances on the field were the best. All in all, it was one of those nights where the real fans were sorry that all the teams couldn't win. Penn Yan, however was the winner in the B/C tournament with a 5-2 win over Honeoye Falls-Lima and Canandaigua won the Class A Championship with a 12-10 win over Penfield.    Full Story

Tuesday: Semi Finals

Penn Yan and Honeoye Falls-Lima are going to the New York State Tournament as a result of tonight's wins in the semi final round at Irondequoit. Penn Yan earned the trip with a 12-6 win over #2 seeded Waterloo and HF-L earned their first trip to the States with a 13-7 win over Geneva. In the Class A semi finals, the top two seeds won as Penfield defeated Schroeder 15-9 and Canandaigua won their game over Fairport 9-5.e had 14 saves for HF-L. Full Story

The County coaches recently announced the list of all stars for 2005. Pittsford attackman,Jake Boyce, Penfield midfielderMike Thon and Webster Schroeder midfielder,Mike Catalino were named to the All America team. Brighton senior attackman,James Ryan was named Academic All American.

Saturday: Quarter Finals

Geneva (#3) beat Brighton (#2) 17-6 and Waterloo (#3) beat Aquinas (#2) in the B/C tournament. In the Class A bracket, all of the higher seeded teams won, setting up the semi final round on Tuesday at Aquinas (Class A) and Irondequoit (Class B/C). Full Story

GRALL All League List for 2005 Announced

The Greater Rochester Area Lacrosse League coaches recently announced the list of all stars for 2005. This is the second year for the league and for its list of exceptional players. Aquinas goalie, Jason LaShomb and Haverling defenseman Alex Durham were named GRALL 2005 Co-Players of the Year. Full Story

The Finger Lakes coaches recently announced the list of all stars for 2005. Canandaigua midfielder Dan Groot and Penn Yan Attackman, Jon Van Houten were named to the All America team. Canandaigua senior attackman, Chris Mulheron was name Academic All American. Full Story

Wednesday: Newark over Midlakes

The first game of the 2005 Tournament had been played an it was the #8 seeded Newark over #9 seeded Midlakes by a score of 9-2. The Reds took a 4-0 halftime lead.  Full Story

Monday: Last Day (Almost)

Pittsford beat R-H today and will host Thomas on Tuesday, but the rest of the teams in Section Five are now finished with the regular season. Penfield dodged the bullet again today with a one goal win at Fairport and completed their regular season undefeated. Canandaigua finished with a win taking them to 16-1 with their only loss to Baldwinsville. Brighton finished with a win over Gates Chili and lost only to HF-L (twice) to end their season at 14-2. HF-L finished with a win over Hilton and lost only to Schroeder this season. Full Story

Saturday: Last Weekend in Regular

It was the last weekend in the regular season and many games were played early to accommodate preparations for proms and balls. Pittsford nearly spoiled Penfield's undefeated season for the second year in a row. Schroeder won a big win against Amherst of Section Six and Brighton had a close win with Churchville-Chili. Meanwhile, Hilton and Spencerport combined for 32 goals in their game. Full Story
