Leading scorers included Penfield’s Griffin Banister with five goals and Spencerport’s Zach Tortora with three. Penfield goalie Mason Schembri finished with a fifty-seven percent save rate. Midlakes secured a 12-4 victory over Livonia-Avon-Geneseo, with James Sprague leading the offense with four goals and five assists. Livonia-Avon-Geneseo saw scoring efforts from Will Schweitzer and Max McEnerney, while their goalie, Colton Rose, posted 17 saves. Victor triumphed over Schroeder eighteen to five in an MC-D2 league game, fueled by balanced scoring from ten players, including Jackson Mead and Will Johnson. Will Simpson (100% save rate) and Landon Tantillo (57% save rate) excelled in goal. Schroeder's scorers included Owen Martin, who netted his first varsity goal. Full Story

Penn Yan secured its seventh win of the season with an 11-10 victory over Brighton. The game was competitive, with Brighton scoring four times in the final quarter to close the gap. Braden Fingar led Penn Yan with five goals and one assist, while Teagan Fingar added two goals and three assists. Goalie Will Thompson finished with 14 saves for a 58% save rate. Rush-Henrietta secured a 16-7 win over Churchville-Chili, pulling away in the second half after both teams traded goals early. Churchville-Chili’s leading scorer, Jaxon Leonard, tallied three goals, with additional contributions from Jack Sloan, Cooper Lass, Matthew Mitchell, and Isaac Bailey. Thomas edged out Hamburg 8-7 in a closely contested non-league matchup, marking its eighth straight win against Hamburg. Leading scorers for Thomas included Blake Jipson (2 goals, 1 assist) and Mason Mylott (2 goals). Junior goalie Joshua Jobson recorded 16 saves, surpassing 200 career saves. Hamburg kept pace but couldn’t break Thomas’ winning streak. Full Story

Offensive Player of the Week

Cooper Moore - Irondequoit Attack/Midfielder

Cooper Moore is in his fourth year on the Varsity and had a big moment last week when he scored two goals and an assist, including the game-winning overtime score against Baldwinsville. With the Eagles tied 6-0 entering the last quarter, Doug Velepec scored two goals to match the Bees and send the game at 8-8 into overtime. Cooper scored with an assist from Dylan Carey.

The junior commit to the US Military Academy (West Point) currently leads the Eagles in scoring and points and has a career total of 153g-62a.

Head Coach Aaron Bottazzo says "Cooper Has been a solid force for our team this year. He is a great player as well as an even better person. Through the ups and downs he has stayed steady and ready to take advantage of opportunities when the present themselves like being ready to hit the final shot in overtime for us vs B'ville. " 

Will Johnson - Victor Midfielder

Will Johnson is a junior in his second year on the Varsity and had a big performance last week when he scored two goals including the game winner in the Blue Devil 9-8 overtime win against Marcellus. With Marcellus up 8-7 with 1:47 left in regulation, Brody Secker scored the tying goal on a pass from Colin Wheeler to send the game into overtime. Will scored with just over two minutes left on a feed from Jacson Mead. This year Will has scored 11g-1a.

Head Coach Dan Stone says "Will spent last year learning the speed, physicality, and level of IQ needed to play at the Varsity level. Like many of his teammates, he committed time in the off-season to develop his speed and strength in preparation for his Junior season. The effects of Will's work has impacted our team in many positive ways through our first five games, and we look forward to his continued contributions all season long."

Will Thompson - Penn Yan Goalie

Will Thompson is a fourth year Varsity goalie who, last week, was instrumental in keeping the Mustangs undefeated with twenty-two saves (71%) in their Cortland win, and sixteen save (84%) in their Westhill win. The senior goalie has a 73% save record this year, making a total of 74 saves in Penn Yan's six games. 

Head Coach Brian Hobart says, “Will has been playing at an extremely high level. He pushes himself daily to improve and lead the defense in front of him. He has been the backbone of our early season success.”

DAY IN REVIEW: TUESDAY - Tuesday featured 16 games, with three thrilling matchups going down to the wire. Hilton held off a late push from Rush-Henrietta for a 15-13 victory, aided by Drew Brien’s four-goal effort and a strong faceoff performance from Drew O’Buck. Canandaigua edged out Spencerport 13-12 in a hard-fought battle, marking Coach Deven York’s 100th career win. Irondequoit narrowly topped Thomas 9-8 behind Kieran Stenzel’s hat trick. The remaining games saw several dominant performances, including Pittsford extending their undefeated run, McQuaid Jesuit’s commanding win, and Pal-Mac keeping their perfect record intact at 7-0. Fairport defeated Greece Storm 15-1 in an MC-D1 league game at Arcadia. Mitchell Monte led Fairport's balanced offense with three goals and four assists, while Carter Fabian scored Greece Storm's lone goal. Fairport's goaltending was efficient, with Luke Ryan achieving a seventy-five percent save rate and Luke Temple a perfect save percentage. Junior Corey Roeser excelled in faceoffs, winning fifty-three percent. Full Story

Bloomfield-Honeoye secured a 16-9 victory over Gananda in a Finger Lakes Division I game, led by Brayden Arber’s six goals and John Blair’s eight points. Ethan Stoddard posted a 50% save rate for Bloomfield-Honeoye, while Gananda’s Jase Smith contributed four goals and four assists, supported by goalkeeper Nick Falso’s 60% save rate. Bloomfield-Honeoye capitalized on a strong second-half surge for the win. Full Story

McQuaid Jesuit claimed a decisive 20-6 win over Aquinas, with ten players scoring and standout performances from Dominic Bianchi, John Burrows, Will Engle, and JP Gianforti, each tallying three goals. Aquinas highlighted efforts from Jake Guggino and Sam Agostinelli, but McQuaid Jesuit's strong offense proved too much. Goalie Logan Schimmel finished with a fifty-seven percent save rate for Aquinas. McQuaid Jesuit improved to a 5-2 record as Head Coach Alex Gray marked his twenty-fifth win. Full Story

Penfield delivered a team-driven victory over East United-Eastridge, winning 19-3 in a non-league game. Fourteen players scored for Penfield, with Brodie Joyce leading in assists and Trevor Serafin making seven saves with a 70% save rate. East United-Eastridge scored three times, led by Taye Brown, Chancellor Williams, and Matai White, while Niger Hicks tallied seven saves. The win marked Coach John Schembri's 175th career victory. HFL defeated Brockport twenty-to-six in an MC-D3 league match with nine different players contributing to the scoring effort. Leading HFL were Grady Goodberlet (five goals, one assist) and Mathew Brassie (three goals, two assists). Brockport's Tyler Houseman (two goals, one assist) led their team. Goalie stats included HFL’s Jackson Blythe (50 percent save rate) and Brockport's James Newton (55 percent save rate). Full Story

Iona Preparatory bested Victor fifteen-to-five in a non-league match led by Tim Plunkett (five goals, four assists) and Billy Haggerty (four goals, two assists). Victor's top scorer was Kyle Saeger (three goals, one assist), while goalie Will Simpson made 20 saves at 57 percent. Freshman Eli Ricci won 88 percent of face-offs for Victor. Full Story

Geneva secured a 20-2 home victory over Mynderse-Romulus in an FL-D1 league game on April 22, with Ryland Dunham leading scoring with eight goals. Geneva's goalies and defense held strong, allowing two goals in the game while Brent Williams recorded an 89% save rate. Freshman Markey Seneca scored his first Varsity goal for Mynderse-Romulus. Geneva improves to 4-2 while Mynderse-Romulus drops to 2-2. Full Story

Haverling dominated their non-league lacrosse matchup against Waterloo today, winning 17-1 at home. Gavin Price led the offense with five goals and one assist, with Noah Schneider and Drew Spears contributing significantly as well. Jacob Warner excelled in face-offs with a 60% win rate, and McLane Stermole stood strong in goal with an 86% save percentage. Waterloo managed just one goal, and their team stats remain unavailable. Pittsford secured a 12-6 road win over Brighton, improving to 6-0 on the season. Grant Lewis led Pittsford with three goals, while Gavin Parks scored twice for Brighton. Pittsford gained momentum in the second and third quarters, creating separation in the score. Brighton’s Logan Serve had 15 saves, and Pittsford’s Pierce Madigan recorded two in limited time. Hilton built an early lead in their 15-13 victory over Rush-Henrietta, with standout performances from Drew Brien (four goals, one assist) and Gianluca Auriuso (three goals). Rush-Henrietta surged in the fourth quarter but couldn’t overcome Hilton’s advantage. Brendan Maxwell posted a 67% save rate, while Sam Guzzetta recorded his 100th career save. Midlakes’ Nate Lathrop contributed four goals and two assists, while Brendan Baldwin added one goal and two assists. Despite Stuart Quku’s effort in goal with twelve saves, the hosts fell short. Wayne secured its first win of the season with a 21-9 victory over Marcus Whitman. Senior attackmen Mason Michel and Tas Strickland both reached career milestones, with Michel scoring his 100th goal and Strickland recording his 50th assist. Wayne’s offense was fueled by contributions from multiple players, while goalie Gavin Hamel posted a 62% save rate. Despite a strong start, Marcus Whitman couldn’t match Wayne’s scoring output. Livonia-Avon-Geneseo won against Newark with a 17-3 score in their FL-D1 league game. Henry Walters led with five goals and an assist, while goalie Colton Rose had 12 saves and a 80% save rate. Newark’s Sam Underhill scored all three of his team’s goals. The third quarter saw Livonia-Avon-Geneseo pull away, scoring eight times. Freshman Connor Duryea celebrated his first varsity goal in the match. Next, Livonia-Avon-Geneseo hosts Midlakes, and Newark faces Gates Chili. Full Story

Churchville-Chili defeated Gates Chili 18-9 in a league matchup, building a strong lead in the first half with contributions from Jaxon Leonard, Matthew Mitchell, and Brayden Hoak. Gates Chili responded with nine goals, led by Michael Alley. Churchville-Chili freshman Brayden O'Mara scored his first varsity goal, and junior goalie Dominic Marra recorded a 56% save rate.
