There were thirty-five teams playing in Section V. Bishop Kearney scheduled seven games but elected to forgo the tournament at the end of the season. There were 893 players on the final rosters, up 13 players from 2022. Rush-Henrietta and Victor carried the largest roster with thirty-six players and Haverling, Midlakes-Red Jacket and Waterloo with the smallest with sixteen. Full Story |

For the eighth time and after a brief absence, Section Five Lacrosse leadership has selected first, second and honorable mention lists of All-Section players. The 2023 first team lists fifteen players and includes the six All-Americans previously announced. The Rochester Chapter of USA Lacrosse recently announced the14th Annual Herb Fitch and Chris Barnes Lacrosse All Star Game player selections. This year's contest, featuring some of the best of the graduating seniors will be held on Thursday, June 15th at Victor High School. Cameron Mesh (Spencerport) was the Division 2 Player of the Year and Jack Faiola (Canandaigua) was Division 3 Player of the Year. The Head Coaches of Section V considered players who had been nominated for All-American and All-Academic awards. The awards identify some of the best players from each area around the country. Each of the head coaches in the Section is allowed to vote on each of the awards. The selections from our area were then submitted to the USA Lacrosse for final approval. Full Story |

Next up for the Section V Champions are the NYS Semi-finals, which will be held two different venues. Classes A and C will play at Homer High School. Victor Wins First Title Since 2019 |

Victor won their first Championship title since 2019 with a 16-6 win over Spencerport. This was the first time in program history that Spencerport made the finals and the first time since Victor’s six year winning Streak (2014-2019) that the Blue Devils had made the finals. In addition to Victor Boys winning their title, the Victor Girls Lacrosse Team also won their Championship earlier in the evening with an 8-7 in quadruple overtime win over Irondequoit. Full Story |
Penn Yan Wins their 27th Championship |

Penn Yan defeated Aquinas 11-6 to win their 12th straight (and 27th overall) Sectional Championship. The Mustangs had a slow start in the first quarter, but picked up the pace for the remainder of the game and led throughout. After three quarters, the Mustangs led 7-2 before both teams added four goals each in the final quarter. Full Story |

DAY IN REVIEW: WEDNESDAY - Penn Yan defeated Aquinas 11-6 to win their 12th straight (and 27th overall) Sectional Championship in the Class D game tonight. In the second game, Victor used seven different players including senior midfielder Braeden McConville who scored his first Varsity goal for the Blue Devils to the great delight of his teammates. HFL Wins in Double Overtime for Second Championship in 3 Years |
May 30, 2023 |
After finishing as the runner-up last season, HFL came back to win their second Section Five Title in 3 years with a double overtime 9-8 win over Wayne. This was the first double overtime Finals matchup since Victor over Thomas in 2018. The Cougars’ Chase Perryman scored the game winner with 2:59 left in the second overtime period. Perryman was named the Class B Tournament MVP and finished the game with 4g-2a. Full Story |
