At the end of regular season Canandaigua was the only undefeated team left after Penfield lost to Pittsford in their last scheduled game. CA won the class A championship 10-7 over Penfield while in class B, Brighton won it's first sectional title in lacrosse with a 6-5 win over Victor. Tuesday: Penn Yan Wins in Westerns |

Penn Yan was the single Section Five winner in the Western Regionals of the New York State Tournament with a 8-4 win over Section VI Class C Champion, Gowanda on Thursday night at Canisius College in Buffalo. The Mustangs used their "Penn Yan run" in the second quarter to score as four different players scored within a minute and a half to take a 6-1 lead. Full Story |

Section Five All Tournament Team Selections- 2004 |

The 2004 Section Five Tournaments are over and the Champions have been determined. An All-Tournament Team is selected for each Class Tournament. The MVP for Class A was junior attackman, Aaron Manzer of Canandaigua. In Class B the MVP was Brighton's, junior attackman, Mike Ryerson. In Class C the MVP was senior attackman, Kyle Eakens of Penn Yan. |

St. John Fisher College - Penn Yan won it's 7th straight Section Five Class C Championship with first year Head Coach, Brian Hobart and 13 underclassmen as they defeated Geneva in a close 12-10 victory at St. John Fisher College. Full Story |

St. John Fisher College. Brighton held the number four position entering the Class B Tournament and after beating the top seed, HFL 15-11 on Thursday, the Barons used an overtime goal by MVP and junior attackman, Mike Ryerson to win their first Section Five Class B Championship, 6-5. Full Story |

Penfield scored the first three goals and looked like they might be the winners, but the Braves took a time out, settled down and scored two goals in the last two minutes of the first quarter, before going on to win the Class A championship, 10-7 before a packed crowd at St. John Fisher College in Pittsford. The County coaches recently announced the list of all stars for 2004. Penfield defenseman, Dan Clay and Pittsford midfielder, R.J. Lamontagne were named to the All America team. Rush-Henrietta senior midfielder, Joe Malach was name Academic All American. |

Canandaigua took a 6-2 halftime lead and beat Fairport 10-4 in the first game of the semifinals. In the second game, however, Penfield needed an overtime goal by junior middie, Mike Thon to beat Irondequoit, 10-9 and advance to the finals. Full Story |

Most of the game was played on Thursday and after more than three quarters, Geneva (#3) was ahead of Waterloo (#2) 8-1 when the game was halted for lightning. The last nine minutes were played today and Geneva was the winner, 12-2. At McQuaid Jesuit, Victor took a 6-1 halftime lead but a scrappy Aquinas team early sent the game into overtime. Thursday: Brighton and Fairport Pull Upsets |

Brighton, seeded number 4th in Class B beat the top seed, Honeoye Falls, 15-11 in the semi finals, and Fairport (#5) beat Pittsford (#4), 11-6 in the Class A quarter finals and the rest of the seeds won out. Geneva (#3) looked like they would upset Waterloo (#2) as they led 8-1 when the game was halted for lightning with about nine minutes left in the game. Victor (#3) won its game with Eastridge after a one-day postponement, 11-10 at home. With the score 11-4 in the last quarter, Victor emptied the bench and Eastridge put on an impressive six goal run in a 2:30 minute period. Eastridge saw goals by Brian Sutton (3g), senior Dan Driffill (3g), junior Kevin Kimber (2g) and senior Matt Recino (2g) who put the Lancers within one. Rush-Henrietta (#9) won its first sectional game in many years as they beat host McQuaid Jesuit (#8) 7-5 behind the efforts of senior middie, Joe Malach (2g-2a) and senior attackman, Tyler Allen (2g). The Expectional Senior "All Star" game, previously scheduled for East Rochester will be held on Tuesday, June 8th, 2004 starting with the Girls Game at 5:00pm followed by the Boys Game at 7:00pm at McQuaid Jesuit Jesuit High School. Coaches from all three leagues have selected the following seniors representing each of the Section Five teams. Teams will be formed at the site.
