Canandaigua Lacrosse and brand new Head Coach Deven York received a great honor recently when it was announced that the Braves won a bid and will be an expansion site for the Shootout for Soldiers next summer. More than eighty applications for the expansion were filed and Canandaigua was among the four that were accepted. Full Story

Attackman Evan Kelly recently announced his decision to continue his education and lacrosse career at Le Moyne College in Syracuse. The senior from Aquinas was name to the All Section Five second team and was on the first team GRALL list last season after recording 45g-23a for the Little Irish. As a freshman, Evan posted 6g-12a for the Cougars are Honeoye Falls-Lima where he was named a NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete. Full Story

As the number of lacrosse programs in the Section Five area continues to grow, there continues to be a need for Certified and properly trained officials at the scholastic and youth levels. The Genesee Valley Lacrosse Officials Association provides officiating services for all Section Five contests.

They are looking for interested candidates for the 2017 spring season and will provide the training necessary for new members.

Sweetlax Lacrosse and JW1's Joe Walters are pleased to announce a partnership with this winter's Box Lacrosse program open to all interested players. Last year, Sweetlax introduced box lacrosse to players in the Upstate area which included practices and a competition in a mid-Atlantic tournament in January. Instructors included Professional Box players Randy Staats, Cody Jamison and Brad Gillies amongst others. Full Story

A good number of Penfield seniors including five boys lacrosse players and five girls lacrosse players met in the gym recently to celebrate their commitment to athletics in college with the signing of their Nation Letters of Intent.

All five senior boys in the lacrosse program had two common comments about the Patriot lacrosse program. First, they consistently credited Head Coach John Schembri with teaching them skills that go beyond the lacrosse field, and second, they all spoke about winning [at least] a sectional title this year.
