The All Tournament Teams for 2018 were announced at each final on Tuesday. The Most Valuable Player in Class A was Jack Cummings (Penfield) and in Class C was Sam Miller (Geneva). Players were selected on the basis of their performances in the Section Five Tournaments. Full Story |

The Section Five Tournaments started last week with out bracket games for Classes B and D. "One and Done" is now the mantra as a loss now means the end of the season. Three hundred and thirty-five games have been played thus far. Seventy out of Section games have been played. Section five teams have won forty-nine (70%). Victor, Thomas, HF-L, Gananda and McQuaid Jesuit ended the season at the top of their leagues. Full Story |

Victor Heads to Finals for Sixth Straight Year |

Top seeded Victor held fifth seeded Schroeder scoreless for 39 minutes spanning all four quarters to defeat the Warriors 7-4. Schroeder defeated fourth seeded Irondequoit 10-7 to make the Semi-Finals for the first time since 2016. Victor has now made the Finals for the sixth straight time. Full Story |
Thomas Heads Back to the Finals |

Second seeded Webster Thomas came out and dominated in their 16-7 win over third seed McQuaid Jesuit. The Titans scored six unanswered in the first quarter and increased their lead to 11-2 at the end of the first half. In the second half, McQuaid Jesuit just couldn’t make up the difference. Top Seeded Fairport defeated fourth seeded Pittsford 8-5 in the first of the two double header Semi-Final matchups. The Red Raiders took off in the second quarter and the Panthers couldn’t keep pace. In the second game of the Class A double-header second seeded Penfield defeated third seeded Greece Storm 13-5 to move on the Semi-Finals. The Patriots will move on to face top seeded Fairport at St. John Fisher College on Tuesday. This is the first time Penfield has made the Finals since 2015. Wayne Advances to the Finals for First Time in Program History |

Sophomore John Reagan scored the game winning goal in the first overtime period to give second seeded Wayne the 11-10 win over third seeded HFL. The Cougars took over the game early scoring five of the first six goals to take a 5-1 lead early in the second quarter. Garrett Ruff scored two early goals for the Cougars to set the pace. He scored with a single dodge with 7:37 remaining and off a behind the back goal (assisted by Josh Barski) with 3:13 remaining. Junior Andrew Mapstone scored two of his own in the run. Full Story |

Ruller and Torrelli Win 200th |

The season would not be complete without acknowledging the milestone reached by Webster Thomas Head Coach, Rob Ruller and Fairport Head Coach Mike Torrelli who both reached the 200 wins mark during the season. Rob won his 200th with an 11-6 victory at Balldwinsville on May 12th. Mike won his 200th game with an 8-3 victory over Penfield on May 14tgh. Full Story |

Wednesday: DAY IN REVIEW: Both B and D brackets were broken today, but the final four are now set for the semi finals on Saturday. In the Class D bracket, #5 Haverling defeated #4 Midlakes 14-9 and #6 Aquinas had upset #3 Pal-Mac 17-5. #2 Gananda beat #10 Bloomfield-Honeoye and #1 Penn Yan beat #9 Waterloo in the other quarters. Pittsford had a 6-3 win over Hilton, Penfield won their game with East United and Greece Storm had a 9-6 win over Rush-Henrietta. Week in Review: Week 8 |

The regular season ended on Friady with four of the five games played having an impact of the tournament seeding. Fairport, for example, played Corning and earned a 75% season with their win. Everyone team that played Fairport this year earned additional points toward seeding with that win. The Tournament seeding was released on Friday night and the games will begin on May 21st. Three hundred and eight games have been played thus far. Seventy out of Section games have been played. Section five teams have won forty-nine (70%). Monday: DAY IN REVIEW: As it happens in the outbracket round, upsets make for excitement and the 2018 edition saw three out of five games won by the lower seeded team. In Class B, Churchville-Chili avenged an earlier loss by beating Spencerport 7-5. Brighton and Canandagigua had no difficulty with their lower seeds by beating Brockport and Gates Chili. In Class D both out bracket games were won by the lower seeds as Waterloo defeated Marcus Whitman 9-7 and Bloomfield-Honeoye beat Mynderse 12-9. Full Story |

Friday: DAY IN REVIEW: The regular season ended today with five games played and most of them had an impact of the tournament seeding. Gates Chili played the game of the season as they scored 15 goals and held Eastridge to 14 with Kyle Krystan leading the scoring with 4g-3a. Brighton finished their season at 8-8 with a loss to St. Joesph's (Section 6). Gananda and Penfield both had big wins to finish their season. Full Story |

Thursday: DAY IN REVIEW: With only five games left in the regular season eight games were played today. Canandaigua (9-7) had eight players on the offensive book as they defeated Pal-Mac (10-6). Mark Belles had 2g-2a for the Braves. Geneva (10-6) was a 12-5 victor over visiting Greece Dugan Doeblin scored five goals and senior goalie Jacob Drennen finished with 11 saves (73%) for the Panthers. After a close half which saw Thomas (14-2) ahead 4-3, the Titans took control in their victory 11-5 over Pittsford (8-8). Full Story |
Brighton, Fairport and Penn Yan Win |

Wednesday: DAY IN REVIEW: With three games on the last Wednesday, Brighton (8-7) beat HF-L (11-5) in a Monroe County Cross-Over game at Brighton. Brady McDermott scored 6g-1a and Owen Ronchetti added 3g for the Barons while goalie Caleb Green made 13 saves (59%). Penn Yan used six goals in the fisrt quarter on their way to a victory over Marcus Whitman. Conner Fingar led the Mustang offense with 5g-3a and Austin Blumbergs added 3g-3a. Fairport (11-4) took off in the third quaretr after a 3-1 half and coasted to a 10-4 win over Orchard Park (9-6) of section 6. Spencer Bell scored 3g-1a and Klay Stuver added 3g for the Red Raiders who will finish their season on Friday when they play Corning. Tim Defendis made 9 saves for the Fairport (82%). Full Story |

Tuesday: DAY IN REVIEW: With a 13-9 win over Aquinas, McQuaid Jesuit (12-3) won the GRALL Championship tonight. Aquinas took an early lead, but the Knights came back to a 3-3 tie by then end of the first quarter and then never lost the lead. Ryan McEvily led with 4g-1a and Jack Bilitier added 3g. Jon Gaglio made 12 saves for McQuaid Jesuit including 7 in the second Quarter. McQuaid Jesuit ends the regular season with a 12-3 record. Full Story |
