US Lacrosse Coaching Education Available |

The Greater Rochester Chapter of US Lacrosse will, again, be offering the Level One Clinic on Sunday, November 22. The clinic, which is part of the program leading to certification, will be available for both the men`s and the women`s game. The local chapter will subsidize half of the cost. Harvey and Sharon Stoler and Raymond and Sharon Shortino will be remembered later this week when family and friends assemble to share stories and celebrate the lives of four people who loved each other and the game of lacrosse. Last Friday, the four long-time friends were on the way back from watching family members and their friends play in the Lake Placid tournament when the private plane, flown by Ray Shortino, crashed shortly after take off from the Adirondack Regional Airport. Sweetlax Freshman Take Inside Lacrosse Invitational |

The Sweetlax Lacrosse Club sent a rising freshman team to the Inside Lacrosse Invitational Recruiting Tournament where they went 6-0 and took first place. The tournament, held at Goucher College (Baltimore, MD), was held from July 20-22. Sweetlax outscored opponents 75-25, allowed no more than seven goals against. In its third year it features "the nation’s top lacrosse athletes squaring off during a week of unparalleled competition, training and mentorship. Over the four days they were treated to the best of Nike, learned from guest speakers that included the Thompson brothers and played games near the Nike headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon. USA Today recently announced the American Family Insurance ALL-USA Boys Lacrosse Team lists and a number of Section Five players were named. Victor junior midfielderJamie Trimboli (Syracuse) was named to the second team, partly on the basis of his three goals and four assists in the State championship game. Former Penn Yan attackman,Bradley Voigt (Syracuse), who attended the Salisbury School this year was named to the third team. Ohio Northern Picks up Lucas Blaszyk |

Ohio Northern University picked up a second player from Section Five as Churchville-Chili senior attackman Lucas Blaszyk will join Newark defenseman Evan Corteville at the new NCAA Division III program. A three year Varsity player, Lucas ended his career with the Saints with 33g-13a and in his senior year had stat contributions in all seventeen games. An aggressive rider, Lucas had twenty-nine ground balls and recorded nine take aways in his senior year. Full Story |
