Grey Wolves Triumph in Thrilling Comeback

Canandaigua pulled off a dramatic fourth-quarter rally to dethrone two-time defending champion Victor, securing an 11-10 victory in the Sectional Finals. Despite trailing for most of the game, the Braves exploded with four unanswered goals in the final frame to take the lead, led by Senior Mike Belles (4g), who earned Class B All Tournament MVP honors. Ryan Bremer (3g-1a) and Drew Williamee (1g-1a) added key offensive contributions, while goalie Quentin Shedrick anchored the defense with eight saves. Victor’s Kyle Seager (4g) and Brody Secker (2g-2a) led their team’s effort, but a late push fell just short. With the win, Canandaigua returns to the State Tournament for the first time in four years and will face Lake Shore (Section VI) in their next matchup. In total, multiple games were played tonight across classifications, but this battle stood out as the closest and most intense matchup.

Penfield Upsets Defending Champion McQuaid Jesuit, 11-9

Penfield secured their first Section V title since 2018 with an 11-9 victory over defending NYS champion McQuaid Jesuit. Tournament MVP Brodie Joyce (6g-2a) and Jake Maurer (2g-4a) led the charge, while McQuaid Jesuit’s fierce third-quarter rally briefly brought them within a goal. Despite the late push, Penfield’s defense held strong to seal the win. The Patriots now advance to the NYS Tournament to face Orchard Park. In total, several games were played today, with Penfield’s triumph standing out among the most competitive matchups.

DAY IN REVIEW: MONDAY - Two sectional championships were decided in commanding fashion, as Honeoye Falls-Lima (HFL) and Penn Yan stamped their authority on the field. HFL cruised to a 19-7 victory over previously unbeaten Pal-Mac, capturing their third straight Sectional title with an explosive offense led by MVP Grady Goodberlet (6g-2a). Meanwhile, Penn Yan overwhelmed Bloomfield Honeoye 19-6, claiming their 26th Sectional crown behind Teagan Fingar’s stellar 5-goal, 5-assist performance.  Full Story

DAY IN REVIEW: SATURDAY - In a nail-biting Class B semifinal matchup, Canandaigua edged out Irondequoit 12-11 in overtime, with Drew Williamee delivering the game-winning goal as part of his three-goal, two-assist performance. After trailing 11-8 heading into the fourth, Canandaigua rallied with three late goals to force overtime, where Williamee sealed the victory. Full Story

Drew Williamee Takes CA to Finals

Canandaigua won 12-11 in overtime against Irondequoit in the Class B semifinals. Drew Williamee led with three goals and two assists, including the game-winner, while Patrick Olvany and Jack Stanney each scored three times. Junior goalie Quentin Shedrick entered late in the third quarter and made eight saves, shutting out Irondequoit in the fourth. Cooper Moore led Irondequoit with six goals. After trailing 11-8 heading into the fourth, Canandaigua scored three times to force overtime, where Williamee sealed the victory. Victor Advances to Finals with 12-7 Win

Victor defeated Pittsford 12-7 to advance to the Class B Finals. Matthew Herendeen led Victor with three goals and three assists, while Kyle Seger contributed three goals and one assist. Victor controlled the game after a tied first quarter, scoring five unanswered goals in the second and maintaining their lead. Pittsford’s Lewis Grant was the only Panther with multiple points, finishing with one goal and one assist. Victor will face top-seeded Canandaigua on June 3rd at Hobart. Full Story

Jake Maurer added three goals, while Brodie Joyce, Manny Castro, and Harrison Easton each scored once. Top seeded Pal-Mac used multiple long runs of scoring to defeat fourth seeded Wayne 21-10 in the first of tonight’s two Class C Semi-Final games. The Red Raiders were led in scoring by Jackson Dennie (6g-4a). Reid Diehl (4g), Brandon Dennie (3g-1a), Luke VanGorden (3g-1a) also added multiple goals for Pal-Mac. For Wayne, Shane Coleman (3g-1a) and Tucker Eaton (4g) led in scoring. The Eagles’ goalie, Gavin Hamel, had an outstanding first quarter with 9 saves; he finished the game with 16 total saves. Penfield Advances to Section V Semifinal

Penfield defeated East United-Eastridge nineteen to zero in the Section V Quarter Final. Fourteen players scored, with Brodie Joyce leading with three goals and three assists. Goalie Mason Schembri recorded four saves in twenty-two minutes, and Nate Roche added one save in twelve minutes. Geneva Move On To Semifinals

Geneva earned a 21-7 victory over Newark in the Section 5 Quarterfinals, with seven players scoring goals. Ryland and Jack Dunham led with five goals each, and Geneva controlled faceoffs throughout the game. Brent Williams recorded a 63% save rate in goal. Newark's top scorer was Sam Underhill, who finished with four goals and one assist. Goalkeeper Carter Bumpus made 16 saves over 48 minutes. Pittsford defeated Brighton 7-2 in the Section 5 quarterfinals, pulling ahead with a strong third quarter. Cole Goetz led Pittsford with three goals, while goalie Bear Wehrheim recorded ten saves and reached his 100th career save. Brighton’s offense came from Miles McGuire and Ben Marangola, and goalie Logan Serve made fourteen saves. Pittsford coach Andrew Whipple earned his 250th career win as the team moves on to face Victor in the semifinals on Saturday at Wayne High School. Full Story

Wayne Advances After Win Against Lakers

Wayne overcame an early deficit to defeat Livonia-Avon-Geneseo 11-7 in the Section V Quarterfinals. Mason Michel led the way with four goals and one assist, while Shane Coleman contributed three goals and five assists. Livonia-Avon-Geneseo was led by Rider VanZandt with three goals and two assists. In goal, Wayne's Gavin Hamel recorded nine saves with a 56% save rate, and Livonia-Avon-Geneseo's Colton Rose posted 15 saves at 58%.
