Penf, Mid, PY and AQ Win on Tuesday

There were five games on the first Tuesday night schedule. Penfield won a close game with Thomas (11-8). Midlakes won their opener 9-2 over Batavia. Penn Yan was the 13-0 winner over visiting Mynderse while Aquinas won a close game against Churchville-Chili. West Genesee was a 7-4 winner over host Irondequoit. Full Story

Canandaigua over Schroeder 5-3

In a game played at McAvoy Park tonight, it was Canandaigua over Schroeder 5-3. The Braves took a 2-1 lead after scoring in the last four minutes of the first and then added 2 more in the second quarter to take a 4-1 half-time lead. Full Story

Penn Yan over Geneva (OT), McQ also Wins

Penn Yan scored five extra man goals to force the game into overtime where eight grade midfielder, Jordan Owen gave the Mustangs a 9-8 win over visiting Geneva. McQuaid Jesuit won a 16-4 game against Newark as Mitch Ritchie, Jeff McDonald and JD Ayer combined for 16 points. Full Story

A sunny spring Saturday hosted a dozen varsity games in Section Five today. Winning were Irondequoit, Midlakes, Penfield, Spencerport, Pal-Mac, Gates Chili, Fairport, Thomas, Brockport, Churchville-Chili and HFL. Full Story

Monday night saw two games in Section Five. Although the Thunder led for much of the game, Eastridge came back with five goals in the fourth quarter. Full Story

Eleven Games on Tuesday

On a sunny afternoon with temperatures in the low 60s, eleven games were were placed in Section Five. The winners included Gates Chili, Penn Yan, Irondequoit, Livonia, and Mynderse. Schroeder took C-C (8-6), Fairport was the winner over Thomas (12-8), CA beat Geneva (12-7), Midlakes beat Pal-Mac by one and McQuaid Jesuit defeated Aquinas 7-6 in overtime. Full Story

Brockport over Spencerport

Brockport defeated Spencerport tonight with a score of 8-4. The Blue Devils took the first quarter 3-0 and matched Spencerport 3-3 to end the half up 6-3. The third quarter saw each team scoring one goal Brockport finished with the lone goal in the last quarter. Full Story

New York State Poll Out - Week 1

The first State poll is out today and eleven Section Five team made the list sponsored by the New York State Sportswriters Association. Canandaigua makes the number 9 spot in Class A with Irondequoit (#12) and Penfield (#15) following. Full Story

13 Games - Lots of League Play

There was lots of action on Thursday with many league games. Winners today included Irondequoit, Churchville-Chili, Fairport, Penfield, Haverling, Victor, Canandaigua, Geneva, Penn Yan Athena/Odyssey, Thomas, and McQuaid Jesuit, who won in Buffalo against St. Francis. Aquinas, and Canandaigua Win Today

Aquinas was a 10-4 winner over Brighton and Canandaigua beat Victor 19-4 in the area, while Carthage beat Penn Yan (16-6) and Tully beat Waterloo (10-6) outside the area on Saturday. Full Story

Sectional Rankings - Week 2

After finishing week two there was very little by way of victories to change very much in the rankings. Teams are still shaking out and trying to separate between the top of the Class and the other strata. Injury and eligibility issues can take a contender right out of the mix. With many more weeks, there are still many possible changes to come in the rankings. Full Story

Canandaigua beat Fairport, Irondequoit beat Thomas and Penn Yan beat Schroeder in overtime in big match ups today. Pittsford was a overtime 7-6 winner over Hilton, Geneva beat McQuaid Jesuit 13-8, Livonia was a 12-10 winner over Waterloo and Spencerport beat Brighton 7-6. Full Story

Fairport and Geneva among winners

Fairport avenged their loss to Canandaigua earlier in the week with a 10-7 win over Penn Yan, Geneva made a dramatic statement in Class B as they defeated Aquinas 14-5 while Gates Chili picked up a 10-6 win over Victor and Hilton beat Spencerport 15-7. Rush-Henrietta was a 18-9 winner over visiting Livonia. Full Story

Penfield, Bloomfield-Honeoye Win

In a battle of the winless, it was Bloomfield-Honeoye with their first ever team win (12-4) against Greece Arcadia/Olympia. In other action Penfield beat West Seneca East (Section 6) with a score of 12-2. HF-L was a 17-7 winner over visiting Scotia-Glenville of Section 2. Full Story

Canandaigua over Corning East

Canandaigua scored five goals in each of three quarters as the beat Corning East (Section 4) 15-6 on Evens Field. Schroeder was an overtime winner at Amherst (Section 6), Irondequoit scored six goals in the third on their way to a 14-6 win over vsiting McQuaid Jesuit and Rush-Henrietta beat Gates Chili 14-12. Waterloo lost to Section 3 winner, Jordan Elbridge on the last Saturday of spring break.

Fourteen Games on Tuesday

Nearly everyone was playing on Tuesday as fourteen games were played by Section Five teams. Batavia won their first ever Varsity games (15-10 over the Lightning), Brockport beat C-C (9-5) and Canandaigua beat Penn Yan in a close 5-4 game. McQuaid Jesuit, and Aquinas were GRALL winners and Pittsford, Gates Chili, Fairport, Penfield, R-H and Geneva had easy wins. Newark beat Pal-Mac 11-8, Mynderse took BH (11-9) and Waterloo was the 9-8 winner over Midlakes. Full Story

There were four games on Monday. Spencerport was a 13-7 winner over Batavia, Hilton beat Brighton 6-2, Gates Chili got by Brockport 8-7 and Livonia took BH 17-8. Full Story

Schroeder had a big win today as they defeated Fairport 12-4. Penfield remained undefeated with an 11-7 win over Irondequoit. In other match ups it was Brockport over Arc/Oly, Thomas over CC, Gates over Ath/Ody, CA over Midlakes and Geneva over Mynderse. Pittsford had a 12-8 win over R-H, Penn Yan beat Pal-Mac, Victor was (10-7) over Waterloo and McQuaid Jesuit was a winner over BH. HFL beat Eastridge 5-4 and Aquinas beat Haverling 14-6. Full Story
