Saturday: Beautiful Weather

Mid 50 degree weather and bright sunshine dominated and the fans were winners today as 12 games were played by Section Five teams. Waterloo won another OT game in their 9-8 win over Waterloo. Newark played Midlakes to an 8-6 win and Aquinas won a close game with McQuaid Jesuit on their new turf field. Full Story

Friday: Pal-Mac over Midlakes

It was Pal-Mac 10-3 over Midlakes on Friday afternoon. Midlakes started off with a 2-1 lead at the end of the first quarter, but it was all PM after that as the Raiders scored six goals in the second and four more the the second half while holding Midlakes to one goal in the last quarter. Thursday: And the Winners Are. . .

Honeoye Falls-Lima improved their record to 4-0 with a night game win at host Brighton, 17-5. After building a 5-3 lead in the first, the Cougars exploded in the second with 8 goals to Brighton's 1 to end the half up 13-3. Seven different players contributed to the 17 goals, 11 of which were assisted (65%).  Full Story

Tuesday: Spring Weather at Last

Livonia increased their record to one win one loss with a thrilling 11-10 sudden victory double overtime win over Haverling at Saunders field. The winning goal was scored on an isolation play by senior midfielder Josh Hendrickson with 2:27 left in the second overtime period.  Full Story

Monday: Victor over Aquinas

Only one game was played on Monday, and Victor was the winner with a 10-7 game at Aquinas. Victor held the lead each quarter, starting with a 3-1 first quarter and a 4-2 half. Junior midfielder Erick Rogemoser (3g-2a) was the leader for the Blue Devils followed by senior middie Kyle Sullivan (1g-3a), senior attackman Cory Benulis (3g), sophomore middie Eric Willman (2g) and freshman attackman Tom Rogemoser (1g). Friday: Waterloo over Pal-Mac

Waterloo defeated host Pal-Mac 12-5 with seven different players making the score-book. After 4-1 quarter and 6-1 half, The Indians, who won the ground ball race 26-17 outscored the Raiders 6-4 in the second half. Full Story

Thursday: Full Swing - Seven Games

There was lots of action in Section Five today as seven games were played on the last day of March. Victor had a one goal win over visiting Pal-Mac as senior attackman Cory Benulis scored the game winner with 3:59 left. Pal-Mac dominated the first half with ball control and patience. Victor stayed in the game with defensive performances by sophomore Tim Gallahan and senior middie Tim Rose. Full Story

Tuesday: Mynderse over Newark and more

It was the second game in as many days for Mynderse, and this time they won as the The Blue Devils beat host Newark 13-11. Although Newark tied the game at 11 at the 2:45 mark with a goal by junior midfielder Luke Walton with an assist from senior attackman Jason Johnson. Sophomore attackman Josh Kurdziolek scored and unassisted goal at 1:44 and senior attackman Chris Warrick added the final goal with an assist from senior middie Tim Ellis at 0:43.  Full Story

Monday: CNS-22 - Mynderse-6

It was a tough night in the cold rain for Mynderse as Cicero-North Syracuse of Section Three took a 15-0 halftime lead to a 22-6 victory at home. Nick Lococo (3g-2a), Ryan Boda (3g) and Jeff Colburn (2g-6a) led the effort while 15 other players scored goals or assists for the Northstars , whose goalies, Nick Aquaviva and Dan Brown combined for 9 saves. Saturday: Thanks for Turf !

Because of the hospitality of Irondequoit High School and Nazareth College, seven games were played on synthetic turf today that probably would not have been played on home field grass. As a result more than 350 players and their fans enjoyed a cold but clear and sunny day with a number of great opening day efforts.  Full Story

Season Opener - CW Over Haverling

The first game on the Section Five schedule was played yesterday in the southern tier as Coring West defeated Haverling Haverling 13-7. It was the first game for each team. West lead at the end of the first quarter 3-2 but scored 4 unanswered goals in four minutes of the second to end the half at 7-2. Full Story

Preview 2005

There can be no doubt that there will be lots of good lacrosse in Section Five, but, at least before the games begin, Canandaigua and Penfield look destined to be back in the Class A finals in May and in whatever form the B/C Tournament takes, Penn Yan will be the team to beat. Full Story
