Penfield 11 - Fairport 9

Penfield defeated Fairport 11-9. The Patriots fought back the in the fourth quarter and scored four unanswered goals spanning 13:26 to defeat Fairport 11-9. The Patriots went from being down 7-8 to leading 11-8 with only 4:55 remaining in regulation. The Red Raiders could not fight back to overtime. The game was tied seven times with the largest lead going to an 11-8 Penfield lead. Fairport led four different times throughout the game. Full Story

Gates Chili 7 - Ath/Ody 5

Gates Chili scored four of the last five goals to defeat Greece Athena/Odyssey 7-5. The Thunder led 4-3 going into halftime before the Spartans held them scoreless for 28:43 spanning the 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters. The Spartans were led in scoring by Joseph O`Hare with 3g. Midfielder Brian May (2g-1a) and Brett Kirkpatrick (1g-1a) also added to the scoring.  Full Story

Victor 7 - Irondequoit 6

Hours before the game Craig Whipple stepped down as Head Coach of the Eagles after posting an 81-24 record and winning four Section V titles since 2007. Junior Varsity Coach Mark Lovett was appointed by Athletic Director Anthony Lipani to finish out the season. The Eagles scored the first two goals of their game with Victor and then proceeded to play a very close game right down to the last minute but was unable to force overtime with the Blue Devils (5-1). McQuaid Jesuit 11 - Livonia 7

McQuaid Jesuit scored five of the first six goals in their 11-7 win over Livonia. The Knights scored the first goal of the game on an unassisted goal by Jarrett Cook and they never trailed. Their largest lead was six goals in the third quarter after Cook scored his fourth goal with 0:10 remaining in the third quarter. Full Story

Monday: Canandaigua and Geneva Win Today

Canandaigua played a night game in the cold rain, but went home with a win over Brighton. Geneva played Newark at Waterloo today and also came home with a win. Full Story

Brighton Takes Livonia 9-6

Brighton controlled their game with Livonia and finished with a 9-6 win. The Bulldogs had a late push (with three of the last four goals) but the Barons led for the rest of the game after taking the lead in the second quarter.  Full Story

Pittsford Over Duxbury By One

Pittsford scored the first three goals and three of the last four goals in their 6-5 win over Duxbury (Massachusetts) in a game held at Hamilton College. Duxbury scored four straight unanswered goals spanning the 2nd and 3rd quarters and held the Panthers scoreless for 26 minutes.  Full Story

Schroeder 10 - Spencerport 6

Although Spencerport scored the first two goals of the game, Webster Schroeder scored nine of the next eleven goals to go from trailing by two to leading by five. Schroeder took over the lead with 9:26 in the second quarter on a goal from Jared Griffin and they never trailed again.  Full Story

Midlakes Over the Pride By One

Midlakes used a strong second quarter to secure a 11-10 win over Bloomfield-Honeoye. The Screaming Eagles held off a late push by the Pride hold on to their victory. The Pride scored the first two goals of the game.  Full Story

After trailing 3-0 after the first quarter, Livonia fought back to defeated Eastridge 9-7. The Bulldogs scored four unanswered goals to start the fourth quarter and then moved into the lead. The Lancers started off strong, but couldn`t keep up the pressure in the second half. Full Story

McQuaid Beats Avon

McQuaid Jesuit scored the first three goals and never trailed in their 14-6 win over visiting Avon. The Knights had ten different players make their offensive scorebook and twenty-seven players with at least one statistic. Midfielder Jarrett Cook led his team with 7 ground balls. Schroeder 7 - Irondequoit 6 in Double Overtime

Irondequoit dominated the first half of play before Webster Schroeder scored five unanswered goals to take the lead in the fourth quarter. The Eagles\\' Andrew Knope scored to send the game into overtime. Mike Trass scored for the Warriors with 2:51 remaining in the second overtime period to defeat Irondequoit for the first time since 2007. Trass scored three goals for Webster. Full Story

Wayne Over Waterloo

Although Waterloo scored the first goal, Wayne fought back and led the entire second half in their 8-3 victory. The turning point for the Eagles came in the last 2:20 of the second quarter. They scored three goals in less than two minutes to take the game from a close 3-2 to a controlling 6-2 going into the half. Nic Martin, Jack Camp and on Ecker each added a goal for Wayne.  Full Story

Section Five Boys Lacrosse Coordinator, Mike Simon led his committee in the most professional manner and the games hosted at St. John Fisher College were exciting and proved to be a great experience for players and fans. Penn Yan returns this season a favorite for their nineteenth Section Five Championship.  The Mustangs return eighteen players from their 2013 roster.  Bradley Voigt (Syracuse) returns as the leading goals and points scorer for 2013.  He finished the season with 57g-40a (179g-112a in his career).  Full Story

Penfield 4 - West Genesee 3 in Double Overtime

Less than thirty seconds into the second overtime period, Penfield`s Jake Sproule picked up his own face-off ground ball and drove to the cage. He scored on a high bounce shot to secure the 4-3 win over Section III`s West Genesee.  Full Story

Spencerport 13 - HFL 10

Spencerport scored the first two goals of the contest and with the exception of fifteen seconds in the first quarter, led or tied for the entire game. The Rangers won 13-10 and were led by attackmen Kasey Olsen (5g) and Colin Mcelligott (2g-6a). Of the thirteen goals, only two were by midfielders the rest were scored by the remaining attackmen: Ryan Schirano (3g) and Brandon Ellis (1g-1a). In the cage for the Rangers, Connor MacKenzie finished with eight saves. Midfielder Andrew Forte finished with a team leading 11 ground balls and was 14/26 (54%) at the face off draw. Full Story
