Saturday: Brighton Defeats Pal-Mac

DAY IN REVIEW: Brighton used a 6-5 first half to beat Pal-Mac by one goal this afternoon. Brady McDermott led the Barons with 4g-1a while goalie Caleb Green recorded thirteen saves (57%) in the cage. Brian Burger led the Red Raider offense with 4g-1a while Jared Hurlbuto posted twelve saves (52%). Full Story

Brighton Holds off Late Advance

April 6, 2017 - Brighton took a four goal lead into the second half on their way to a 10-9 win over Hilton.  The Barons had six players make their offensive scorebook in the win with Brett Randall leading in scoring with 3g-3a.  Hilton was more spread out with ten players in their offensive book. Thursday: Brighton and Pal-Mac Win One Goals Games

DAY IN REVIEW: It rained throughout the section and as temperatures dropped over the afternoon, four school cancelled their games, but ten did play. As has been the norm, thus far this year, many were mismatches but there were two one goal games as Pal-Mac defeated Penn Yan and Brighton beat Hilton. Full Story

Wednesday: Spencerport and Aquinas Winners Today

DAY IN REVIEW: There were two games played in the Section on Wednesday. Brockport played a close game with Spencerport in the first half (7-4) but the Rangers took off in the second half. Aquinas was the winner in a GRALL game with Haverling. Full Story

Burek Scores in Overtime

Reese Burek scored with 2:38 remaining in the first overtime period to give Fairport the 4-3 win over Webster Schroeder.  The Warriors scored all three of their goals in the opening quarter and led 3-1 after 12 minutes.  Full Story

Barker Scores Back to Back to Secure Win

Colby Barker scored back to back goals to end the game and give Pittsford the comeback 10-9 win over Canandaigua.  The Braves scored the opening three goals and led for nearly the entire game.  Barker scored the tying goal with 8:58 remaining, but took their first lead of the game with 0:14 remaining on the clock.  Barker finished the game with 3g-1a. Brighton Wins First Game of Season

After a close game last week, Brighton got their first win over the season with an 11-10 victory over Churchville-Chili.  This was the first time that Brighton had defeated Churchville-Chili since their 15-14 victory in April of 2010.   Full Story

Hopsicker Wins in Overtime

Jeremy Hopsicker scored back to back goals to end the game and give Brockport the 10-9 win over Greece Athena/Odyssey in the first overtime period.  Hopsicker scored the game tying goal with 1:01 remaining in regulation before scoring the game winner 1:51 into overtime, both goals were unassisted.  Although, he had three assists earlier in the game, they were his first two goals of the game. Midlakes Scores Final Four to Win

Midlakes scored the final four goals and held Waterloo scoreless for the final 27 minutes in their 7-5 win over the Indians.  The Screaming Eagles increased their record to 3-0 with their closest game of the season so far.  Full Story

Monday: Newark and Haverling win

Newark impoved their record to 1-1 with a 14-6 win over Batavia at Genesee Community College. Junior attackman Parker Casselman stole the spotlight for the Reds with 6g-3a while Talyn Pierce made eight saves (57%) in the cage. Eric Gimlin recorded 15 face off wins for Batavia. Full Story

Saturday Eleven Big-Little Games

For the most part, of the dozen games played on Saturday, all but one was a mismatch. McQuaid Jesuit played to a 3-3 half and the Knights scored what begam the game winner in the third in their 7-6 victory over visiting Wayne. Full Story

Friday: Marcus Whitman Wins Season Opener

DAY IN REVIEW: After one game was postponed due to weather concerns, the only game played on Friday was Watkins Glen at Marcus Whitman. The Wildcats won their first game of the season 14-6 with solid performances by Timmy Cornish (4g-2a), Schuyler Bredesen (2g-3a), DeCouteau Blueye (3g) and Seth Benedict (4g-3a). Junior goalie Michael Dhondt made 9s (60%). Full Story

Patriots Defeat Barons

March 30th, 2017 - Penfield scored six unanswered goals in the first quarter to secure the lead and never looked back in thier 14-11 win over Brighton.  The Barons fought to keep the score close, but never re-tied the game after the first quartr.  Joey Barboza and Peter Schwab recorded 5g-1a each for the Patriots. Agness Scores Six in Spencerport`s win

March 30, 2017 - Spencerport scored nine of the first twelve goals on their way to a 14-10 win over Greece Athena/Odyssey.  Although the Thunder scored the first goal (Zack Gibaurd unassisted), Spencerport scored the next four.  Johnathan Agness scored the opening two on his way to six total goals.  Owen VanWie and Cameron Nitti scored the next two. Blumbergs Overtime Goal Lifts Penn Yan

March 30, 2017 - Austin Blumbergs scored unassisted, 0:21 into the second overtime period to give Penn Yan the 7-6 win over Haverling.  Blumbergs scored a total of 3g-2a to be a part of five out of seven goals.  The Rams led for the majority of the game, with Penn Yan only leading for 1:39 throughout the entire contest. March 29th, 2017 - One day after an overtime loss, Gates Chili got an overtime win with a 9-8 victory over Brockport.  The Spartan's Jarrett Kirkpatrick scored his lone goal fo the game only 0:23 into the first overtime period off an assist from Nicholas Ehmann.  Ehmann was the big scorer for Gates Chili and finished with a hand in 7 out of 9 goals (4g-3a). March 28, 2017 - Owen VanWie scored the game winning goal with 0:06 left in the first overtime period to give Spencerport the 13-12 win over Gates Chili.  VanWie was a major presence throughout the game winning 19/25 face off draws and leading his team with 20 ground balls.  This was the 21st time that the Rangers had faced the Spartans and with the win they moved to 10-11 against Gates Chili. March 28, 2017 - Nick and Andrew Leonardi scored their first Varsity points in tonight`s 13-12 win for Greece Arcadia/Olympia against Brockport.  Nick`s first point of his career came earlier with an assist to Adrian Romero; however, his first goal was off Andrew`s first point with 2:37 left in regulation to give the Lightning a 1 point lead and secure the victory. March 28, 2017 - Irondequoit scored the last four goals to defeat Webster Schroeder 5-4 this afternoon.  The Warrior did not score in the final 26 minutes spanning three quarters.  Sophomore Jack Brennan finished with 4 of the 5 goals for the Eagles.  Goalie Patrick Hynes was a major player and finished with 12 saves. DAY IN REVIEW: The season started in earnest on Tuesdays with eleven games in the damp but not snowy weather often seen in the first week. There were mismatches and some close ones. Big score winners were McQuaid, Midlakes, Haverling, Pittsford and Skaneatles (over visiting Mynderse).  Full Story
