Fairport Advances in Low Scoring Game |

In the lowest scoring State game in 11 years, Fairport defeated Orchard Park 5-1 to advance to the next round. Today’s game was also the lowest scoring Class A game in 24 years, going back to Mahopac defeating Ward Melville 2-1 in the second round of Class A Tournament of 1996. The game was a pairing of a strong defense from both teams and a Fairport offense that had trouble getting their shots on cage. Fairport goalie Tim Defendis finished with 12 saves (92%) and Orchard Park goalie Brendan Hamm recorded 7 saves (58%). Full Story |
Victor Advances to Semi-Finals |

Victor came to live in the fourth quarter and scored five unanswered to defeat Hamburg 8-4. The Bulldogs played a tight three quarters before the Blue Devils became too much for them in the final 12 minutes. Hamburg played a strong 36 minutes and forced Victor to deal with them on the offensive and defensive side of the field. They led until Victor’s second goal of the fourth (9:34 remaining). The Blue Devil offense had problems getting going. They led in shots 27-19 on the game, but had trouble putting their early shots on the cage. Scoring was mostly spread out with junior attackman Joey Pezzimenti leading for Victor with 3g-1a. Goalie Liam Haller recorded 10 saves (71%). Full Story |
East Aurora Wins First NYS Tournament Game in School History |

After winning their first Sectional Title in school history, East Aurora can now add their first NYS Tournament win to their list of achievements. East Aurora fought back from a 4-0 deficit to defeat Geneva 8-6. The Blue Devils scored 7 of the last 8 goals to secure the victory. They held the Panthers scoreless for 21 minutes spanning the second, third and fourth quarters. The Blue Devils were led in scoring by Drew Kenney with 4a. Jack Rogers was the only other Blue Devil to score more than one point (2g). Geneva goalie Brandon Wayne finished with 11 saves in the contest, including six in the final quarter. Full Story |
Penn Yan Advances to Face LaFayette |

Penn Yan came back from an early deficit to defeat Eden 8-5. Earlier in the season, the Mustangs won the matchup 14-0. Eden, who led 3-1 early in the game, played strong for four quarters and kept the game within one for much of the second half. This was the first time that Eden had advanced to the State Tournament. The Raiders were led in scoring by Sawyer Schiedel (1g-1a), Zach Smalling (1g-1a) and Quinn Harrington (1g-1a) with two points each. In the cage for Eden, Zach DeCarolis finished with 19 saves. Saturday: DAY IN REVIEW: Section Five teams won three out of four today at St. John Fisher College, where the Western Regionals took place. Fairport narrowly defeated Orchard Park, 5-1 in the Class A game. Victor then followed in the Class B game where, after coming alive in the last quarter, won their game with Hamburg, 8-4. After winning their first Sectional Title in school history, East Aurora can now add their first NYS Tournament win to their list of achievements. Peers Scores Game Winner in OT for Fairport |

Fairport tied the game with 0:17 left in regulation to force overtime and then defeat Baldwinsville 8-7 in the first overtime period. The Red Raiders had a two goal lead going into the final quarter before the Bees scored three unanswered goals within two minutes to get back in the lead. The Red Raiders kept up their pressure and Kole Herren scored the tying goal on a feed from Klay Stuver. Stuver was the big scorer for the day and finished with 5g-1a. Full Story |
Victor Heads to the Finals for the Fifth Year |

Victor heads to the State Finals for the fifth consecutive season after their 12-6 win over the Section IV Champion, Vestal. The Golden Bears scored the last two goals to catchup in the final four minutes. The Blue Devils led by eight halfway through the fourth quarter. Leading in scoring for Victor were Camden Hay (3g-4a) and Joey Pezzimenti (2g-3a). For Vestal, senior Matt Thrasher finished with 4g to lead his team. Full Story |

Massapequa Wins Second State Title |

Massapequa won their second State Title in school history with a 10-6 win over Fairport. The Chiefs won their first title in 2014 with a 16-2 win over Fayetteville-Manlius. The Chiefs scored the opening two goals and led throughout the contest. They won the first three quarters (and tied 2-2 in the fourth). Full Story |
Haller Leads Victor to Fourth State Title |

Victor won their fourth NYS Finals in five years today with a 9-7 win over John Jay. Blue Devil’s senior goalie Liam Haller was the pillar that lifted them to their Title. He finished with 21 saves (75%) and played one of the best games of his career in today’s matchup. The Indians recorded 39 shots with 28 on cage (72% on cage). Haller often faced not only the primary shot, but secondary shots from the doorstep; he was repeatedly on point and came up with multiple saves that were stellar. Offensively, Jack LaRue (4g) and Camden Hay (3g-1a) led in scoring. For John Jay, Jack Browne played the entire game between the pipes and recorded 2 saves. Shoreham-Wading River Wins Fourth State Title |

Shoreham-Wading River won their fourth State Title with a 12-7 win over Jamesville-Dewitt. The Wildcats offensive was led by Xavier Arline with 5g-2a. He was demonstrative on offense with both goals and assists and set the strong offensive pacing for the Wildcats. Overall, SWR was demonstrative on both sides of the field. They played a strong defense that forced JD into not taking a shot or taking a bad shot. Additionally, on offense they kept driving to the cage with multiple scoring threats not letting the Red Rams defense stop them. In the cage for SWR, Liam Daly finished with 7 saves. JD’s offense was led by Tanner Burns (1g-2a); defensively, in the cage, Jamison MacLachlan recorded 9 saves. Full Story |
LaFayette/Onondaga Comeback to Win in OT |

LaFayette/Onondaga came back from behind to defeat Briarcliff 9-8 in OT. The Lancers scored the last three goals of regulation to force overtime with a little over 2 minutes left on the clock. LaFayette, before combining with Onondaga, had previously won two State Titles (the last of which was in 2005 as a Class C school). With their win tonight, they become the 2nd Team from Section III to win a State Title in Class D (third year with a Class D Tournament). Leading in scoring for the Lancers was Mason Homer with 3g. Senior Reid Jackowski finished with 2g. He was responsible for the tying goal, as well as the game winner in overtime. In the cage for L/O, Collin Dix recorded 12 saves. For Briarcliff, their offense was led by Jack Ricciardi (1g-2a) and Kyle Proctor (2g-1a). Between the pipes was Ian Leahy with 5 recorded saves. Full Story |

Saturday: DAY IN REVIEW: Both Victor and Shoreham-Wading River won their fourth NYS Championships today at St. John Fisher College. SWR defeated Jamesville-DeWitt 12-7 and Victor beat John Jay 9-7. Fairport played a good game against Massapequa, but lost 10-6 and LaFayette/Onondaga won their title in an Overtime match with Briarcliff. Full Story |

The Rochester Chapter of USLacrosse recently announced the 2019 Herb Fitch Lacrosse All Star Game player selections. This year's contest, featuring some of the best of the graduating seniors will be held on Thursday, June 13th at Victor High School. Lacrosse Officials Year-End Awards |

At their "Year-End Gathering" the members of the Genesee Valley Lacrosse Officials Association announced their annual Frank Mangione Award for Excellence award winner. The award is given to a person who has demonstrated the highest ideals of professionalism, leadership, passion and above all, respect for the game of lacrosse at any level both on and off the field. 2019 Season Wrap Up |

Batavia joined with both Attica and Notre Dame (to form what we canlled BAND) and otherwise the teams remained the same with thirty-five playing in Section Five this year. There were 1,129 players on the rosters at the during of the season and 914 on the final rosters. Fairport carried the largest roster with forty-one players and Spencerport had the smallest with sixteen. Full Story |
