The Gananda Varsity Boys Lacrosse team has dedicated their home game on Monday, May 2nd to former Coach Mike Pane`s recovery. Pane, a member of the Canandaigua class of 2004, was the first coach at Gananda and took them from a 2-13 record in their inaugural year to 12-6 record in 2012 and 13-4 in 2013. Full Story

Aquinas scored the first two goals, and although the score was tied, the Little Irish never trailed in their 5-3 win over Canisius. After a 12-11 overtime win the first time the two teams played, they both came into tonight with high expectations. The first quarter was a hard fought defensive battle which had Aquinas taking 5 shots at goal and Canisius taking 4 shots. Senior Bryce Kelly had two saves shutting out the Crusaders. The quarter ended at 0-0.

Thomas never led for a single second in their 9-8 overtime win over Canandaigua. Scoring when it was most important, they took their only lead with a sudden victory goal from Travis Ford with 2:11 left in the first overtime period. The Titans scored six of the last seven goals. Trevor and Travis Ford were major players in the contest with Travis scoring 2g (including the game winner) and Trevor scoring 5g. Full Story

In a close match-up Fairport defeated Webster Schroeder 4-3. The Red Raiders took their final lead with 5:01 left in fourth quarter. The game started off slowly with only one goal for each team in the first half. Schroeder scored first to take the initial lead with Matthew Montgomery assisting Conor Bollin. Their lead held for four minutes before Fairport tied the game with Spencer Bell scoring (assisted by Michael Modesti). The 1-1 tie held for sixteen minutes until well into the third quarter. After a 12-7 loss earlier in the season, McQuaid Jesuit was looking for revenge against Haverling. The Knights came back from an early deficit to defeat the Rams 10-9. Haverling took a substantial early lead before McQuaid Jesuit scored eight unanswered goals to take the game away from the Rams. Full Story

Greece Athena/Odyssey held off a late advance from Brockport to defeat the Blue Devils 10-9. The Thunder led by four with 5:09 remaining in the game before Brockport scored three goals in under two minutes. They could not tie the game in the final 2:53 to force overtime. Full Story

The greatly anticipated contest between Victor and Pittsford was resolved, at least at this point, tonight when Victor overcame a 4-2 halftime deficit and scored seven goals in the second half to beat the Panthers 9-6. Full Story

Haverling defeated Livonia 15-2 the first time they faced each other this season but their game today was decidedly closer. The Rams scored the last four goals to secure a 9-8 victory. The Bulldogs were held scoreless for 26:49 with their last goal coming in the second quarter. Haverling took an earlier lead and scored the first two goals. Aquinas scored four unanswered goals to secure the lead in their 8-7 win over RH. Although the Royal Comets started off the game, leading 4-2 after the first quarter, the Little Irish came back and scored six out of seven straight goals in the second and third quarters to hold a three goal lead near the end of the third quarter. The Royal Comets scored the final two goals of the game to bring the score to a single point differential. Full Story

In a battle of former Penn Yan Players, Head Coach Brandon Trombley (Bloomfield-Honeoye) and Head Coach Ryan Kerrick (Marcus Whitman) faced off against each other. Bloomfield-Honeoye scored the first nine goals in their 16-10 win over Marcus Whitman. The Pride took control early and then slowed down in the second half and allowed Marcus Whitman to come closer. HF-L took the lead in the second quarter and never trailed again in their 15-12 win over Spencerport. This is the first loss for Spencerport in the last seven games. The game was back and forth in the first quarter and even though the Cougars kept the lead for three quarters, the game was close throughout. Full Story

In a game of halves, Pittsford defeated Corning 8-7. The Panthers scored the game winning goal in the final sixty seconds. The Hawks finish their season at 13-3 with two of their three losses to Section Five Teams. Corning came out of the gate ready to win and scored four of the first five to lead 4-1 with 5:27 left in the first half. Full Story

Thomas led for the majority of the game in their 12-10 win over Irondequoit. The Titans only trailed twice and only by a single goal both times. Although they led for most of the game, Irondequoit never trailed by more than three and was often within a single goal. Full Story

The Hamburg Bulldogs need overtime to guarantee their undefeated season (16-0), the only team in Section VI to have a perfect season. Canandaigua, who trailed 6-3 at the half were inspired in the second half and outscored the bulldogs with the same numbers (6-3) to force overtime. Full Story

Both teams led during the game with the Lancers holding the lead for much of the second half. Their largest lead was three goals (in the fourth quarter). The list of finalists for the prestigious Tewaraaraton award that honors the top male and female college player in the United States was announced today and among the five finalists is Pal-Mac alumnus Ben Reeves. The current Yale sophomore earned first team All American honors and was named Ivy League Tournament MVP. He is the first finalist to come from Yale. Full Story

Webster Thomas finished their season with a big overtime win over Pittsford (14-2). The Titans (11-5) scored five goals spanning five minutes to take a two goals lead. The quarter final contests will be at the home field of the higher seeded team on Tuesday.

GAME NOTES: The final game of the regular season saw Mynderse defeating Livonia 17-14. In the first round of sectionals, Livonia forced overtime, but the result was the same. Mynderse won 10-9 when Brad Sandroni scored a goal with 0:43 remaining in the first overtime period. Unlike Thursday`s game, this game took a defensive tone from the first quarter. Livonia got on the board at 7:09 of the first with a goal from Tim Lischer. Mynderse took 12 shots in the first with no luck as Justin LaDuke had 5 of his 14 for the Rams. Full Story

Spencerport scored six unanswered goals at the end of the third and beginning of the fourth to take the lead and defeat Brockport 19-14. Before the stretch, the game was tied 12-12. Spencerport scored the first goal of the game when Owen VanWie scored his unassisted goal five minutes into the game. The Blue Devils kept the game close and tied for the first quarter. *+Earlier this season, Webster Schroeder lost to Fairport 4-3. In the first round of sectionals, the Warriors (#5 seed) came for revenge and defeated Fairport (#4 seed) 10-9. This was the first time that Schroeder has defeated Fairport since 2008. The Red Raiders have won the last ten contests. The game was a series of runs. Schroeder controlled both the beginning and the end of the game with Fairport making a six goals run to end the second quarter. Full Story

Three of the four quarterfinals were mismatches with the higher seeded team winning, but in the #4-#5 match up it with the number five seeded Webster Schroeder, taking out Fairport (#4) in a 10-9 overtime thriller. Full Story

Churchville-Chili continued their undefeated season with a 13-12 win over Brighton. The Saints took the lead late in the second although Brighton kept the game close, for the second half. Brighton held the lead twice (late first and early second quarter). Churchville-Chili scored the first three with goals from Corey Yunker, Ryan Mead and Jason Tebo. Tebo scored 4g in the game, including his 100th career goal. Brighton scored their first goal with 5:59 remaining when Brett Randall scored the first of his 5g-2a. The Saints added their fourth, with Jacob Buck scoring off a feed from Yunker. Full Story

Although the Blue Panthers held a 3 goals lead twice in the first half (3-0 and 5-2) the game was tied at 5-5 at the half. In the second half the score was tied each step of the way with both teams taking turns leading. Full Story

Although the seeding for the Class B and Class C held through the quarterfinals, there were two exciting games. Gananda was an 11-10 winner over Pal-Mac and Churchville-Chili was a 13-12 winner over Brighton. The rest of the winners were Canandaigua, Pen Yan, Wayne, Aquinas, Thomas and Irondequoit. Full Story

Victor scored thirteen goals before Webster Schroeder got on the board. The Blue Devils won 21-4. They score too many unanswered goals to itemize each play. However, some stand-out performances throughout the game included: Ryan Maloney intercepting a pass between a defenseman and the goalie and scoring behind the back without breaking stride and long stick Patrick Barrow taking the ball coast and coast and scoring. Schroeder's first goal was scored with an impressive cross crease feed through traffic from Conor Bollin to Collin Griffin. Bollin finished with 2g-1a on 4 goals for the Warriors. Full Story

After trailing 1-0, Pittsford scored four straight goals to take the lead for good. The Panthers kept up their scoring and, even though the Patriots scored late to make the score closer, they defeated Penfield 12-9. The Patriots scored the final four goals to decrease the deficit to only three goals. Pittsford`s largest lead was 12-5 at the end of the third quarters. Full Story

The highly regarded Blue Devils from Victor had no trouble securing their ticket to the finals as they defeated Webster Schroeder. Full Story

Canandaigua fought back from a 10-5 deficit at the end of the third quarter to force overtime and then won 12-11 over previously undefeated Churchville-Chili. The Braves never led and only had the game tied twice (1-1 and 11-11). They scored when it mattered, in sudden death overtime, to secure the win. The Saints took control of the game for three quarters before the Braves fought back in the fourth. As the Braves got closer and closer to a tie game, they became more amped up and the Saints had more trouble staying in the lead. Full Story

*+After a delayed start due to weather, Webster Thomas fought back from a five goal deficit (8-3) to force overtime and then defeated Irondequoit 11-10. The Titans never led and only tied the game twice (9-9 and 10-10). They took their first lead in sudden victory overtime to secure their win and move into the Finals. Irondequoit controlled the game for nearly three full quarters before Thomas fought back at the end of the third. Full Story

With the semifinals concluded, the teams are set for the 2016 Section Five Championships. Victor will play Pittsford in Class A, Thomas will play Canandaigua in Class B and Penn Yan will play Aquinas in Class C. Full Story
