After a triple overtime win in the Class B Finals last season, Canandaigua returns at the top of the pack.  The Braves lost their next game to the Section VI Champion Hamburg.  They return fifty-two percent of their roster this season with fourteen new players joining the team.  Full Story

On paper, Pittsford looked strong in the preseason with a strong mixture of dominate offensive players and a returning defense that was already proven last year. In their opening today, they solidified that impression. Senior midfielder Brandon Barker was pretty much unstoppable from the front and the long sticks look like they are at mid-season. Full Story

 Penn Yan has a young squad this year that includes three 8th graders, two freshmen and three sophomores, but they still behave as one of the most disciplined teams in the Section. T.D. Ierlan started out this year right where he left off last year, winning seventeen of twenty face offs for the Blue Devils (85%). His dominance at the "X" helped give Victor a 43-25 shooting advantage and his team leading twelve ground balls helped give Victor a 44-18 ground ball advantage. Full Story

Head Coach Dan James recently announced that McQuaid Jesuit Senior midfielder Jared Calderon will continue his studies and play lacrosse at SUNY Geneseo. A third year varsity player for the Jesuit Knights, Calderon made the early decision to join Coach Jim Lyons and the Geneseo Knights in December joining a squad comprised of nine other Section Five alums and the first from McQuaid. After outscoring Eastridge 6-3 in the second half, Brockport defeated the Lancers 12-9. This was the first win for the Blue Devils over the Lancers since April 2013. The Red Raiders followed with the only goal of the second quarter to force a 1-1 tie at halftime. Fairport pressed the beginning of the second quarter, scoring the first two goals to take a 3-1 lead. In a game where the score was never more than two goals apart, Greece Athena/Odyssey defeated Gates Chili 13-12. The Thunder scored the final goal with only 0:10 left in regulation. Sophomore midfielder Zack Gibaud scored his fourth goal of the game for the win. Over the past ten years, this is only the third time that Greece has defeated Gates Chili who have won twelve. Midlakes scored the first four and last three goals in their 9-7 win over Mynderse Academy. The Blue Devils kept up heavy pressure in third quarter as they took the lead twice, but could not hold on in the final quarter. Livonia took the game into overtime to defeat Aquinas 5-4. The Bulldogs got their sixth win in the past ten years over the Little Irish (20 wins). Holding Aquinas to only four goals is the strongest defensive performance in the records. Livonia used two, two-goal runs to secure the win. One was in the first and one was in the third. The Little Irish scored three goals in the second quarter. Both teams were held scoreless in the fourth quarter. Full Story

The Spartans had a strong opening and closing to the contest with the Blue Devils playing strong in in the middle quarters. Thomas scored five unanswered goals spanning the second and third quarters to defeat Penn Yan 8-7. The Titans and Mustangs have played six times in the last five years and with the Thomas win, the series is now tied 3-3. Churchville-Chili remained undefeated with an 11-8 win over Canandaigua. The Saints have faced the Braves seven times in the last five years and this is only their second win.  Irondequoit kept their winning streak against Spencerport alive with a 7-5 win over the Rangers. Over the past 10 years the Eagles have won all five games against the Rangers. In today's contest, Irondequoit scored the first three goals and held a minimum two goal advantage throughout. The largest gap came in the fourth quarter when they led 7-3. Full Story

Schroeder kept pace with Clarence (of Section VI) four three quarters until the Red Devils pulled away with four unanswered goals in the final quarter. It was an exciting game at Canandaigua as the youth players welcomed the Varsity team, led by the drums, to Exhibition Field. In 2013, Fairport senior Blake Cognata lost his battle with Ewing`s Sarcoma, a rare cancer. The Fairport High School football and lacrosse player died just before his eighteenth birthday, but the lacrosse communities have continued to commit themselves to insure that his memory will live on. Spencerport Head Coach Tim Britton recently announced that Spencerport junior attackmanColin McElligott has given a verbal commitment to study and continue his lacrosse career at the University of Indianapolis. A third year varsity player for the Rangers, McElligott has 130 career points including 30 goals and 55 assists during the 2014 season, earning him 1st Team All-County D-3 and 2nd Team All-Section honors as a sophomore.
