Players of the Week - May 1, 2006

The SportsFive Player of the Week awards are out for week five and the three deserving winners were selected from a field of forty-four nominees. Full Story

Tuesday: Thomas in Overtime

Thomas was the overtime winner 10-9 in their game at HFL. Fairport was the 9-3 winner at Irondequoit and Aquinas was the 8-3 winner in GRALL action. Full Story

Week 4: New York State Poll Out

The fourth New York State Sportswriters Association Poll is out and Section Five has ten teams on the list. Full Story

Thursday: Eastridge wins in the Fourth

Eastridge scored three goals in the fourth to win a 9-7 victory over Spencerport, while the rest of the games posted scores that were not as close. Full Story

Friday Newark Over Haverling

In the only game played today, Newark scored seven goals in the first quarter and five more in the second quarter on their way to 16-0 victory at Newark. Full Story

Saturday: Brighton over Geneva

After a 4-4 tie at the start of the the fourth quarter, Brighton scored two goals. Geneva brought the scored to within one with less than a minute, but the Barons held on. Full Story

Monday: Pal-Mac and Livonia Win

Haverling entered the 4th quarter up 5-3 but Pal Mac tied the score with 2:32 left in the game and Dave Merritt scored the game winner in the second overtime with a behind the goal feed from Mike Christ. Livonia took a 7-1 first quarter lead before beating Haverling 17-3. Full Story

Tuesday: Fairport over Schroeder

Unlike the first game, this time Fairport took control early in the game, ending the first quarter with a 6-2 lead and ending the game at 13-7. Full Story

Wednesday: Livonia over Midlakes

The single game played on Wednesday found Livonia the 13-7 winner over visiting Midlakes. Full Story

Thursday: Penfield and Penn Yan Win

There were a number of big games played under wet conditions on Thursday. Penfield avenged an earlier loss to Fairport in a Monroe County game and Penn Yan used two over time periods to beat Canandaigua in Finger Lakes play. Schroeder was a one goal winner against Rush Henrietta and HFL won a big Class B win against Brighton. Full Story

The fifth New York State Sportswriters Association Poll is out and Section Five has ten teams on the list. Full Story

Saturday: Schroeder over Irondequoit

Most games played today were not close ones, but the Schroeder vs Irondequoit was anyone's game until the end, Midlakes beat Mynderse by one goal and Churchville was the Chili winner on Saturday. Full Story

Monday: Pal-Mac in Overtime Win

In their second meeting of the season, Pal-Mac and Haverling settled the game in overtime, this time with Pal-Mac the 8-7 winner as Cody Clement scored the winning goal on a feed from Will Mallia just 1:36 into the overtime period. Full Story

Players of the Week - May 15, 2006

The SportsFive Player of the Week awards are out for week seven and the winners this week were selected from a field of fifty-eight nominees. Full Story

Tuesday: Penfield and Rush Win

Penfield played a close game with Schroeder and was the 11-9 winner. Rush Henrietta also won an 11-9 victory, there game against host Irondequoit. Full Story

Tuesday: Spencerport Wins Division 3

It took overtime, but Spencerport was the 6-5 winner and captured the Monroe County - Divison 3 title today. Full Story

The sixth New York State Sportswriters Association Poll is out and Section Five has eleven teams on the list. Full Story

Thursday: Fourteen Games !!!

Fourteen games were played on the last regular day of the 2006 season There are only six games are left to be played before Saturday afternoon. Full Story

Tournament Brackets - There Here!

The brackets are now available for all three tournaments. In Class A, Penfield, Fairport, Schroeder and Thomas take the top seeds. In Class B, Brighton and Geneva take byes and in Class C, it's Penn Yan, Waterloo, Aquinas and Livonia. Click below to see the brackets. Full Story

Saturday: Last Regular Season Games

With a number of seeding positions on the line five games were played on the last day of the regular season. Canandaigua was the winner over Hamburg while Schroeder lost in double overtime to Amherst. In the Section, McQuaid Jesuit, Waterloo and Aquinas won games. Full Story

Quarter Final Rounds

The seeding worked out well in the quarter final round of the Section Five tournaments as all the top seeds advanced except #4 Thomas who lost to #5 Canandaigua in double overtime. Full Story

GRALL All Stars for 2006

TheAll Star list is out recognizing the GRALL players for the 2006 season. Alex Caton from McQuaid Jesuit was selected as "Player of the Year". The GRALL coaches selected senior midfielder Scott Mosher from Livonia as the 2006 USLacrosse Academic All American. Full Story

Finger Lakes All Star Awards for 2006

TheAll Star list is out recognizing the Finger Lakes players for the 2006 season. Senior Steven Carlson and senior Dan Mesler both midfielders fromPenn Yan were selected as USLAcrosse All Americans. Senior attackman, Dan McGuffie also from Penn Yan was selected by the Finger Lakes coachesas the 2006 USLacrosse Academic All American. Full Story
