Tuesday: CA Holds On, Pittsford, Spencerport and Penfield Win

DAY IN REVIEW: TUESDAY - Although the majority of games ended in mismatches, there were a couple of exciting games. Topping the list is Canandaigua's 4-3 win at Brighton where neither team scored in the second half. Pittsford took an early lead and then never gave it up in the 8-6 win over visiting Irondequoit and Spencerport held Fairport scoreless in two quarters in their 7-3 win at home. Penfield scored four unanswered goals in the first quarter and then coasted to their 11-7 win over visiting Schroeder. Full Story

Monday: HF-L and Gananda Win Today

DAY IN REVIEW: MONDAY - HF-L is off to a great start at 5-0 after their win against East Aurora (Section VI). Chase Perryman scored his 100th goal in the game. Gananda controlled their game with Bishop Kearney who had their season opener. Full Story

Saturday: Victor over Kiskayuna, CA over Penn Yan

DAY IN REVIEW: SATURDAY - Tere were a dozen games played today and most were mismatches, Canandaigua beat Penn Yan by a single goal and Victor beat Niskayuna 15-7. West Genesee edged out Penfield by one goa (13-12) and Mynderse posted a shutout at Waterloo. Other local winners were Irondequoit, Pal-Mac, Schroeder, Fairport, Geneva, Spencerport, and Marcus Whitman. Full Story

Thursday: CA comes from Behind for Win

DAY IN REVIEW: THURSDAY - Canandaigua came from behind and won their game with Irondequoit by a single goal. Waterloo scored three goals in the third to help win their 6-5 game with Midlakes-Red Jacket. Hilton on a winning streak took out Fairport 9-4, and Penn Yan fought off a charge by Geneva in their 7-5 win at home. Full Story

Wednesday Gananda Beats Bloomfield-Honeoye

DAY IN REVIEW: WEDNESDAY - There were two games played today. Loyola Academy was at McQuaid Jesuit where they defeated the Knights 5-3. In the Finger Lakes, Gananda traveled to Bloomfield where they defeated the Pride 12-8. Full Story

Tuesday: Mike Torrelli Wins 250th Game at Fairport

DAY IN REVIEW: TUESDAY - Fairport Head Coach Mike Torrelli won his 250th game today as the Red Raiders posted a 7-5 win over visiting Thomas. Brighton won a close one at Irondequoit and East-United won a close one at Brockport. HF-L won a close one at Schroeder and Canandaigua won their game against Spencerport. Full Story

Monday: Wayne Defeats Geneva

DAY IN REVIEW: MONDAY - In the single game played on the first day back from vacation, Wayne took off in the second half and beat Geneva 10-7. Full Story

There eighteen games played last week. There are seventy-four out of section games scheduled and seven have been played. Section V teams have won eleven and lost seven (61%). There are still nine teams that are undefeated at this point. Full Story

DAY IN REVIEW: SATURDAY - Canandaigua traveled to Corning for their 11-6 over Corning (Section IV). At home, Pittsford had a strong second half in a very close game and beat West Genesee (Section III) 7-6. SCOREFull Story

Friday: Penn Yan Falls in OT

DAY IN REVIEW: FRIDAY - In the single game played today, Penn Yan overcame a two-goal deficit to tie the game with Westhill in regulation. Westhill's Luke Gilmartin scored the game winner with 0:28 left in the second overtime period. Full Story

Thursday: Penfield Beats Irondequoit in OT, Fairport over WG

DAY IN REVIEW: THURSDAY - There were five games played today and two were very exciting ones. Penfield came from behind to win their game with Irondequoit in overtime and Fairport used three goals in the last stanza to defeat West Genesee. Hilton was a winner over visiting Wayne and Schroeder and Pittsford lost to Section III team. Full Story

Section V Boys Lacrosse Coordinator Mike Simon in conjunction with the Canandaigua National Bank are, once again, sponsoring recognition of noteworthy performances throughout the season. DAY IN REVIEW: TUESDAY - There were eight games played today and three were won in overtime.  Junior A/M Sam Pucci (1g-1a) scored the game-winner for Fairport, East United/Eastridge won their game in overtime, and junior attackman Sean Olvany (5g) scored the unassisted game winner For Canandaigua. Thursday: Victor and Livonia-Avon Make a Statements

Thursday: DAY IN REVIEW: In the first minute of the game Victor scored two goals against Fairport and cruised to a 19-2 win at Fairport in their season opener.  Sam Ricci dominated at the faceoff X, winning 16 of 17 (94%). Marcus Whitman won their first game of the season in a good game with Gananda. A couple of goals before the half was the difference as Livonia-Avon defeated Pal-Mac 8-6. Other winners, most in not so close games were Wayne, Aquinas, Pittsford, Irondequoit and Thomas. Full Story

Monday: Medina over Brockport

Monday: DAY IN REVIEW:Two games were scheduled but the Wilson at Pal-Mac game was postponed, leaving the Medina at Brockport game. Medina was the 18-9 winner at Brockport. There was no report from Brockport at post-time. Full Story

Friday: DAY IN REVIEW: In the second game of the 2023 season, Penfield went right to work, scoring eight goals in the first quarter on their way to a 14-4 win over visiting West Seneca East from Section VI. Full Story

Thursday: The Season Opener Newark Wins Big

Thursday: DAY IN REVIEW: The 2023 season started today with one game. Newark hosted Watkins Glen, and after a 10-0 first quarter took the 20-0 win, giving sophomore goalie Carter Bumpus a shutout with four saves. Full Story

The 2023 Season is underway

Varsity lacrosse teams throughout New York State had their first practice of the 2023 season today and thousands of players have high hopes for a fantastic year, full of wins and championships. In the end, however, there will only be two teams left in each class who will compete for the New York State Championships. Full Story
