Players of the Week - First of the Year

Section V Boys Lacrosse Coordinator Mike Simon in conjunction with the Canandaigua National Bank are, once again, sponsoring recognition of noteworthy performances throughout the season.

In our first group we have a junior and a sophomore who have had noteworthy performances in the last week.

Offensive Player of the Week

Sean OlvanyBrody Secker - Victor Midfielder

Brody Secker has started out his junior year making a statement. In a very close game with Niskayuna (Section II) that saw four ties and five lead changes, Brody received a feed from Jack Herendeen with 00:02:42 left in overtime and scored the game winning goal. In the 10-9 game, Brody had 2g.

Head Coach Dan Stone says, "Brody continues to embrace his new roles and responsibilities for our team this year. It has not taken him long to make an impact in many positive ways, not only on the field, but also with his contagious positive attitude in the locker room and sideline. Brody is a dynamic player helping our team establish its identity this season."

Defensive Player of the Week

Nick LepianeJake Gibson - Aquinas Goalie

Jake Gibson had a big week, winning three games with 27 saves. He had 15 saves (75%) in the Aquinas 16-7 win over Geneva and 9 saves (56%) in the overtime win with Canisius. In that game he made a point-blank save in overtime that was key to the win. The sophomore, in his second year on the Varsity, has 205 career saves and an average of 63%. Last year he was named to the Class D All-Tournament team and was a first team GRALL goalie.

Head Coach Terry Corcoran says, “Jake is an outstanding athlete who works hard to be the best goalie he can be every day. He`s a resilient competitor with an outstanding attitude. Jake is a pleasure to coach.”
