Irondequoit over McQuaid, Pittsford over Hilton

Thursday: DAY IN REVIEW: There were thirteen games played today with a mix of close ones and mismatches.

Brighton scored six unanswered goals in the third quarter to pull away from Spencerport.  The Barons won 18-11 after the Rangers scored the final two goals.  Brighton was led in scoring by Brady McDermott with 6g-3a.  The first goal of the game was scored only 0:25 into play with B. McDermott finding Shea McDonald open on the crease after a fast-break down the field. Story Continues...

Fairport beat visiting Penn Yan as Spencer Bell scored 2g-2a to lead the Red Raiders. Tim Defendis made 7 saves (70%) and Reese Burek added 2g-1. Austin Blumbergs recorded 1g-1a and Jeff Kinyoun made 8 saves (57%) for the Mustange.

McQuaid at IrondequoitPittsford scored the opening goal and never trailed in their 5-3 win over Hilton. The low-scoring game had the Panthers holding the Cadets scoreless for the entire third quarter. John Avery and Harrison Cross scored the first two goals, both in the first quarter, to give Pittsford the early 2-0 lead. The Cadets responded with two of their own: Jordan DePetres and Matthew Gouger. The Panthers responded with one goal in second, third and fourth quarters to take a 5-2 lead with just under 9 minutes remaining in the game.

In the Finger Lakes Tournament, Marcus Whitman defeated the Pride 15-12, Mynderse beat Waterloo and Newark beat Midlakes. Gananda won a one-goal game with Pal-Mac and Geneva beat Wayne by one goal.

Jake Rapp scoring the game winning goal in overtime to give Gananda an 8-7 win over Pal-Mac. The Blue Panthers scored four of the first five goals to take the early lead. Pal-Mac fought back to a 5-5 tied with four unanswered goals to start off the second half. After the score was tied at 5, it was tied again at 6-6 and 7-7. The goal that forced overtime was scored by Brett Cunningham with 0:47 remaining in regulation off a feed from Henry Bush.

A last quarter surge by the Warriors gave Schroeder an 11-9 win over HF-L.

Jack Brennan (3g-2a), Phil Barilla (4g) and Quinn Simonson (3) combined for ten goals in Irondequoit's 12-8 win over visiting McQuaid Jesuit. Jack Billitier scored 3g for the Knights (10-3).

Also winning today were Gates Chili, Aquinas and Greece Storm.
