Saturday: Season Opens with Six Games

DAY IN REVIEW: Although four games were postponed, the remaining six opening games were played on the first day of the 2017 season.

Victor fansVictor pulled one out of the fire with a five goal run in the third and fourth quarters to tie the game with 6:34 left in the game. Junior midfielder Alexander Mabbett scored the go-ahead goal with and assist from Mitchell Cain with 1:12 left in the game and Andrew Russell scored his fifth goal of the game to seal the victory with 0:22 left in regulation. His goal was assisted by Mabbett. Face off performances were key in the game as Tucker Hill and Richie Pierpoint combined for 16 or 22 draws including all eight in the last quarter. HF-L was a 13-4 winner over visiting Brockport. Although the Cougars led by one at the end of the first quarter they extended their lead to 7-2 at the half. Sophomore attackman Andrew Mapstone (1g-4a) led the offensive effort with junior midfielder Jonathan Roth right behind with 4g. Rother also led in face off production with 5 of 7. Junior midfielder Garrett Ruff led in ground balls with six. Continues 

Wayne scored the first nine goals in their 12-5 win over Haverling in the game at Aquinas. Senior Jon ecker led the effort with 2g-4a. Zach Boyatzies and Cooper Pieroni each added three for the Eagles. For Haverling, Connor Cupp (2g-1a) and Jonathan Deets (1g-2a) had the honors. It was the first meeting of the teams. Continues 

A strong second quarter lifted Rush-Henrietta in their 11-6 season opening win over Livonia. The Royal Comets have even distribution in their offense with Brandon Waden (2g-2a), TJ Day (3g) and Zack Lenhard (3g) sharing top honors. In the goal, Colin Mix made 8 saves (57%). Nate Adams (3g) led the scoring for the Bulldogs.  Continues 

Midlakes opened the game with nine first quarter goals and finished with a 20-3 win over host Avon. Brandon Macdonell led the scoring with 2g-5a and Ryan Macdonell added 5g-1a. Continues

Aquinas finished of a three game day on their home field as they defeated St. Francis (Section VI) 13-7. Aquinas led throughout the game behind the leading offensive efforts of Eli Chalmers (3g-2a), Casey Hockheimer (2g-2a) and Nicholas Morreale (4g). Junior goalie John Peter Chinelly recorded 13 saves (65%) for AQ.  Continues
