Zach Binggeli Scores For Gananda Win

Gananda senior midfielder Zach Binggeli scored with 0:16 left in regulation to give the Blue Panthers an 8-7 win over Aquinas. Binggeli finished the game with 1g-2a. The game was tied at 1, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7. The 7-7 tie was scored with 2:12 remaining in regulation. Gananda scored the opening goal of the game with Binggeli assisting Kyle Lombardozzi with 8:29 remaining in the first quarter. The Little Irish had a run and scored the next three goals. Alex Bianchi added two and Jamison Whitfield added the third to give Aquinas the only two goal lead of the entire game with 4:33 remaining. Colin Brillian scored the final goal of the opening quarter for Gananda during an extra-man situation.

In the second quarter the teams alternated goals with Gananda scoring first and last to tie the game going into halftime. Lombardozzi, Nick Rapp and Joe Fisher scored the three Blue Panther goals and Bianchi and Whitfield scored the Little Irish goals. The game was tied 5-5 going into halftime. Gananda scored the only goal of the third quarter to take their first lead since the opening goal. Riley Palmer scored with 6:22 remaining.

Aquinas came out in the final quarter and scored back to back goals to take the lead. Jonathan Olbrich and Whitfield scored for the Little Irish. They lead by a single goal with 4:43 remaining in regulation. Brillian scored his second goal of the game to tie the game before Binggeli scored the game winner. In the cage for Gananda, Marty LaFica finished at 50% with 7 saves. Defenseman Dylan Joy led the ground balls count with six. For Aquinas, Andrew Kausch and Alex Uhlein split time between the pipes at halftime. Kausch finished with six saves and Uhlein finished with 2 saves. Midfielder Terrance Richards and Bianchi finished with four ground balls each to lead the Little Irish.
