Brine All-American National Classic Rochester Team Announced

National Classic Updated The twenty-four player roster for the Brine All-American National Classic Rochester Team has been announced. The list contains six players from Pittsford and five players from Section 6 (Buffalo). Most of the players are rising seniors (18), but there are five rising juniors along with one sophomore, Victor midfielder Tristan Ierlan.

The rising seniors are Alex Bianchi (Aquinas attackman), Bailey Bourgeois (Horseheads defenseman), Aaron Buck (Churchville-Chili attackman), Billy Cooper (Pittsford attackman), Eddie Eddington (Geneva midfielder), Cameron Frank (Riverside defenseman), Graham Gooch (Irondequoit midfield), Colin Greenway (Williamsville East attackman), Joshua Merkel (Irondequoit midfielder), Eric Munn (Canandaigua attackman), Lex Oakes (Clarence Whipple Brothersmidfielder), RJ Pound (Pittsford defenseman), Stephen Quinzi (Pittsford attackman), Blake Rickan (Williamsville East defenseman), Liam Smith (Aquinas defenseman), Jake Sproule (Penfield midfielder), Mitch Standera (Penfield midfielder), and Greg Weyl (Pittsford defenseman). The rising juniors are Willie Klan (Schroeder goalie), Kevin Maguire (Pittsford goalie), Dominic Perna (St. Joseph's attackman) and Max Spaan (Penfield attackman).

Named as alternates are Bryan Collister (Greece Lightning midfielder), Justin Kesselring (Fairport attackman) and Dan McAvoy (Fairport attackman).

A couple of players from Section Five made the Syracuse squad. Rising senior midfielder Bryan Collister (Greece Lightning) will play with with rising senior attackman Ryan Kelly (HF-L).

The Tournament will be held from June 30th to July 3rd in Maryland. The Rochester team will be coached by Craig Irondequoit) and Andrew (Pittsford) Whipple. It is the fifth time the brothers will coach the team. They are assisted, once again, by Matthew Knope (Irondequoit) and Duffy McKenna (Irondequoit). The tournament features almost seven hundred and fifty boys and girls from high school an middle schools. The high school boys tournament will see players from twenty regions competing from July 1st to July 3rd.

The winners will represent the United States when they play the Canadian team for the Brogden Cup in December. Rochester has won the tournament four out of the last five years and has won the Brogden Cup three times. More information is available at the Classic web site.
