Rule Changes for 2005

Boys lacrosse in New York State is governed by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), whose Boys Lacrosse Rules Committee have approved the following rule changes for 2005.

1-9-1-a 14-15 All players of a team shall wear helmets of the same color.
     
3-6-2 22 If the offended team is ahead, the score stands; if the offended team is behind or tied, the official score shall be Offended Team 1, Opponent 0.
     
6-5-14 39 Added the following: Penalty-Award the ball to the offended team in its offensive side of the field, at the Center Faceoff X.
     
6-6-3   This portion of the rule has been eliminated. All baiting and taunting acts are now clearly covered under Rule 5-9-3.
     
7-13 46 When a coach believes a rule has been misapplied, a time-out may be requested for the purpose of review.
     
4-12-4 27 If the team in possession of the ball is offsides and has either started play or advanced the ball into its offensive half of the field, the ball shall be awarded to the offended team in its offensive side of the field, at the Center Faceoff X.
     
4-12-5 27 If the team not in possession of the ball is offsides, the ball shall be awarded to the offended team at the sport where the ball was when play was suspended.....

There is also a reminder that by 2008 all jerseys must meet the new specifications.
