B-H beat Gananda 9-7, Thomas beat Fairport 10-9, Victor beast CA 7-2, Waterloo won their game with Mynderse 6-4, Penfield dodged a pesky Hilton 10-9, C-C had a 10-9 win over HF-L, R-H was a 13-11 winner over Schroeder and Gates Chili won their game with East United-Eastridge 7-5.

DAY IN REVIEW: FRIDAY - Three games were played tonight. Thomas took an 8-5 win from Hamburg (Section VI), Midlakes-Red Jacket won their first game of the season  and Haverling had an 18-6 win against Bishop Kearney in a GRALL game.

After only playing in five games last season, Webster Thomas goalie Owen Dalberth started his second game of the season tonight for the Titans.  The senior goalie was instrumental in the 13-12 win over Penfield this evening.  In the fourth quarter alone, Dalberth recorded six of his game total ten saves.

*+Webster Thomas never trailed in their 6-5 win over Canandaigua tonight to secure their fourth Sectional Championship and the first since 2016.  In 2018, freshman Ethan Ruller started in the cage for Webster Thomas and helped take his team to the Sectional Finals.

Wednesday: DAY IN REVIEW: The quarter finals were played today, and there were fourteen winners and fourteen teams that ended their seasons. Following the season trend, almost all were mismatches with only the Irondequoit at Thomas game close, for most of the game. As expected, all the higher seeded teams won today and the top four seeded teams are now set for the semifinals.

Friday: DAY IN REVIEW: Six games were played on the last Friday of the regular season and there were some good ones. Webster Thomas broke out in the second quarter, led 7-5 at the half and won 12-8 over McQuaid Jesuit. Newark scored five goals in each half and fought off a surge by Gananda to win 10-8. Brockport goalie Antonio DiEngeniis made 14s/6ga (70%) to help the Blue Devils beat Gates Chili 9-6 tonight. Other winners were Victor, Rush-Henrietta and Mynderse.

Wednesday: DAY IN REVIEW: Four more teams joined Batavia and BK as they finished the regular season today. Churchville-Chili, Greece, Pittsford, and Penfield finished and will wait for tournament seeding on Sunday. Irondequoit won a close one with Churchville-Chili. Victor won a close one with Pittsford and Brockport won a close one with East United-Eastridge.

Wednesday: DAY IN REVIEW: The only game that was close today was the one the everyone was talking about all season, as two undefeated teams met and only one would continue with the possibility of a perfect season. In the end, Webster Thomas scored four goals in the final quarter to score a 7-5 victory over Canandaigua.

Wednesday: DAY IN REVIEW: Senior faceoff specialist Logan Callahan gave Victor a big advantage in ball time as he won 14/18 draws to help the Blue Devils beat Fairport 10-6 this afternoon. Callahan, who in three games this season has won 58/66 (88%) faceoffs also scored 2g-1a. The game started even, with three ties before Victor took a lead at 4-3 and did not let go. Senior M/A Cal Lambert led the scoring for the Blue Devils with 3g-2a. Senior midfielder Alex Seiler added 2g-1 and five other players scored one goal. Fairport sophomore A/M Jackson Monte led in scoring for the Red Raiders with 2g-1a. Fairport (2-2) will play Penfield on Friday while Victor (3-0) is playing Irondequoit. Saturday: DAY IN REVIEW: Webster Thomas scored the first goal of the game and although Fairport quickly tied it, the Titans went ahead early in the second quarter and never gave up the lead in their 7-5 win at Fairport this afternoon. The spectators saw a very defensive game with Titan senior goalie Ethan Ruller making All-American saves and Fairport junior goalie McLean Ralston making 12s (63%).

Wednesday: DAY IN REVIEW:In one of the few non-mismatched games this year, Fairport travelled to Pittsford in what the preseason coaches' poll said will be the Class A finals and as they predicted, Fairport won this one, but despite the 10-7 game it really could have gone either way. Unlike most teams in the section, Thomas only lost two seniors to 2020 graduations and so they have many players who were successful as underclassmen. Although all that youth was tough in 2019, leaving the Titans with their first losing season since 2005, there will most certainly be a payoff this year even as they play in the most competitive class.

# 2911  Fifth Seeded Thomas Defeats Fourth Seeded McQ

Thomas won another low scoring game with a 5-4 win over McQuaid Jesuit.  The Titans (5th seed) defeated Knights (4th seed) with a slow methodical pacing to the game.  Throughout the contest, both teams were slow to go to the cage.  They took their time before capitalizing and that led to a mostly back and forth contest.  Both teams led with the game only being more than one goal apart a single time.

Thomas scored the first six goals in their 11-10 win over Churchville-Chili.  Although the Titans led by six twice during the contest, the Saints kept the game interesting in the fourth.  Churchville-Chili came within one goal twice in the final quarter, but could not tie the game.  Their 10th goal was scored with 3:04 remaining, but they did not get the needed 11th goal before time expired.

Thomas and Wayne played the conclusion of their match from April 16th today with the Titans winning 9-6.  Thomas scored five of the first seven goals to take an early lead that the Eagles could not fight back against.  This was only the second loss of the year for Wayne and first non-overtime loss.  With tonight’s win the Titans break a three game win-less streak, including an overtime loss to Fairport last week.

Canandaigua scored four goals in the final quarter to secure a 6-5 victory over Thomas.  The Titans played a strong early game, but in the second half, they struggled offensively as they were scoreless for twenty minutes spanning from 0:47 seconds into the third until just under 3 minutes left in regulation.

# 2839  Thomas Hands Hamburg Second Loss of the Season

Thomas scored four of the last five goals to pull ahead in their 10-8 win over Hamburg.  The game was only outside of a one goal game twice.  Throughout the contest, the score was tied each time up to 7-7 with both teams leading at different points in the game.  After Thomas scored their 8-7 lead, the game never tied again and Thomas held out the win.  Their 10th goal was scored with 0:12 remaining.  The Bulldogs fall to 6-2 with the loss, with both losses coming from Section Five teams (Canandiagua on 4/6)

# 2835  Battle of Webster High Schools

In the battle of the Webster High Schools, Thomas defeated Schroeder 6-4 after a consistent four quarters.  Schroeder came out strong winning the first quarter 3-2.  Thomas came back with two unanswered goals in the second quarter to take the 4-3 lead into halftime.  The Titans never lost the lead after that.
