Week In Review - Week 9
May 19, 2019 - There were Thirty-four games played last week as the regular season ended with one game on Friday. There were seventy-two out of section games played this year. Section Five won forty (56%) and the out of section teams have won thirty-two.

Looking Back
There were three games played on Monday including Pittsford who beat Orchard Park (Section 6) 10-3 and Gates Chili who defeated East United Newark. Jamesville-DeWitt bumped their record to 15-1 with a 12-9 win over visiting Victor.
Tuesday was busy with fifteen games including Fairport's win over Penn Yan. Hilton's win over Irondequoit gave the cadets their best record in team history (12-4). Marcuse Whitman held off a late push by B-H to hold on to a 12-11 win. Pal-Mac beat Wayne by one (9-8) in the first day of the Finger Lakes Tournament and the Greece Storm won a single-goal game with HF-L in overtime. After four lead changes, Waterloo scored the final three goals to defeat Newark 10-8. Canandaigua beat Penfield with even scoring by four played who each scored four points.
Wednesday saw Pal-Mac and Waterloo winning.
There were fifteen games on Thursday as many worked to try to figure out how the tournament seeding would look on Saturday. There were five one-goal games. Wayne beat Midlakes 12-11, Marcus Whitman beat Mynderse 12-11 in overtime, Pal-Mac beat Geneva in overtime, Penfield defeated Irondequoit 9-8 and Thomas beat Penn Yan 5-4. Victor finished their regular season with a 9-5 loss to Corning (15-1) whose only loss this year was in overtime against Geneva.
The last game of the regular season was on Friday when Marcus Whitman beats Eastridge as Seth Benedict led the Wildcats with 4g-3a.
Late Friday night, the tournament seeding was released with Fairport, Canandaigua, Geneva and Pal-Mac taking top seeds.
Looking Ahead
It's now officially "tournament time" starting with four out-bracket games in Class B and two in Class C. They will be played on Monday.
In Class D, Aquinas (#7) will play Waterloo (#10) and the winner will play Penn Yan (32) on Wednesday. Gananda (#8) will host Haverling (#9) with the winner playing Pal-Mac on Wednesday.
In Class B Gates Chili (#11) will be at Schroeder (#6) with the winner playing Brighton (#3). Brockport (#10) will be at Irondequoit (#7) with the winner playing at Victor. BAND (#12) is at Thomas (#5) with the winner playing at McQuaid Jesuit (#4) and Churchville-Chili (#9) will be at Spencerport (#8) with the winner playing at Canandaigua (#1). All quarter finals games will be at the high seeded team's site on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, The Class A quarter finals will be played. Rush-Henrietta (#6) will play at Hilton (#3). They will play the winner of East United (#7) at Pittsford (#2) in the Semifinals. Penfield (#6) will play the Greece Storm (#4) with the winner facing Fairport (#1) in the semifinals games with will be played at Webster Thomas on Friday.
The final four matchups will be played on Friday and Saturday. Friday the Class A games will be at Webster Thomas at 5:00 and 7:30. The Class C semifinals will be played at Canandaigua at 5:00 and 7:30. Geneva will play in the first game and Wayne will play in the second game.
On Saturday, the Class B semifinals will be at Fairport at 11:00 Am and 1:30 PM. The Class D semifinals will be at HF-L, also at 11:00 AM and 1:30 PM.
All Championship games will be at St. John Fisher College with the Class C game at 5:00 and the Class A at 7:30 on Tuesday. The tournament will end on Wednesday, with the Class D game at 6:00 and the Class B game at 7:30.
