Players of the Week - Week Seven

- Player of the Week

Section V Boys Lacrosse Coordinator Mike Simon in conjunction with the Connors and Ferris law firm are, once again, sponsoring recognition of noteworthy performances throughout the season.

For "Week 7" we have two players who had standout performances last week.

Offensive Player of the Week

Sam RicciJustin Schnauber - Spencerport Attack

Justin Schnauber scored the second of his 3g-1a at 2:46 and then scored the tying goal with 0:16 left in the game to force overtime as the Rangers beat Canandaigua 9-8 last week. The senior has scored points in every game this year. The win was the first time Spencerport defeated Canandaigua.

Spencerport Head Coach Bill Buttaro says: "Justin is a leader and the QB of our offense. For the past two seasons our offense has gone as he has gone. For him to step up in that spot was a huge lift for our team and our program."

Defensive Player of the Week

Jason MosherLiam Podszebka - Churchville-Chili Defenseman

It`s not often that a we choose a defenseman for player of the week because of his offensive play, but Liam Podszebka has been selected for scoring the tying goal with HF-L, sending the game into overtime where the Saints won. The SUNY Poly bound senior has been playing on the varsity since eighth grade, playing both LSM and defense.

Head Coach Chris Fiala says, "Liam has an unbreakable spirit and embodies our "No Quit" philosophy. Liam has been an essential component in his roles both on the field and in the locker room, as one of three senior captains. Liam’s play against HF-L to force overtime demonstrates the type of leader he is; someone who can put the team on his back in critical moments of a game. Liam has been consistently making those types of runs up field turning routine ground balls into fast break opportunities. Liam has (5) goals this season ( 7 shots, 5 shots on target, 5 goals). Liam is also on pace to break the Churchville Chili's single season takes record of 34 as he is currently at 28. Liam had a similar goal in the first overtime win against HFL, helping us comeback for a 11-10 win. In the second overtime win against HFL, Liam was faced a similar situation and handled it routinely. Liam will be playing college lacrosse next year at SUNY Polytechnic in Utica"
